ALLOVATE (3063) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - JUL 19, 2015
Lost and forgotten in the cellar for far too long. Brewed in 2012 so fingers crossed. Into a weizen; audibly effervescent but remained headless. Slightly hazed amber body. Nose of banoffee pie with plenty of caramel, bready yeast, rips banana and clove. Featherweight on the palate, foamy in the back with plenty of life upfront. Highly phenolic, plastic, peppery, clove-like on the swallow. Caramel and banana like the nose with a solid base of wheat malt. Still drinking OK, so I’m guessing ti would have been a cracker fresh. (50cL, Batch 495, The Int’l Beer Shop, W. Leederville)

Rastacouere (6177) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 2, 2013
Rather dull looking golden pour with ugly brown sediments leaving the bottom of the bottle and floating around the glass whose head fades a away very rapidly for a weizen, especially one that gushed a little. Appealing nose more on the spicy - pepper, clove, gently medicinal smokeyness - phenolic side than straight up esters. Still has a gentle banana kick with pear-like allusions, but if there is a dominating fruit flavour to me, it is lime. Fresh and lively lime, lightening up the relatively round and rough-edged wheat. Cerealic, the wheat lasts for a significant time after swallowing, its carbonation level is perhaps below average, accentuating its malty side, but its tart yeast profile provides all the refreshment that would usually come from carbonic acid.

Bottle batch 482. Hazy yellow/orange with a medium sized white head, that leaves a bit of lacing. Aroma is fruit esters - banana, citrus and light dusty herbal hops, wheat malt, farty, spices. Taste is medium sweet, light bitter and light acidic. Medium body, watery/oily texture, lively carbonation. Light sweet and dry finish with light esters.

Rated: 21/5-07 Found some old notes. Batch 30. Pours golden with a small off white head that leaves at once. Aroma of citrus and banana. Smooth taste of the same. Ok Weizen but not my kind of style.

Pours a hazy straw-colour with a white head that disappears a bit too fast. Breadlike aroma of of yeast, together with coriander and spruce. Aroma are wheat, spruce and something I can’t name.. cookies maybe? very bitter finish for a hefe-weiss. Way overcarbonated in my opinion. Would be a really good beer with some less carbonation and a bit lower bitterness in the finish. I enjoy drinking it to be honest, but it could be improved.
