500ml bottle, batch 423, honey gold color, with a bubbly white head, but falls quickly, nice yeasty fruity ripe apple, doughy, vanilla nose, with some honeyed pale, toasted, bready, wheat malt accents, and with a light cinnamon, nutmeg spicy, vanilla pudding, tapioca milk pudding note in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate, with a good fruity apple, pear, faint banana, doughy yeastiness character, with some spicy cinnamon, light apple strudel, honeyish pale, toasted, wheat malty flavours, and a with mild candied lemon peel, subtle vanilla tapioca milk pudding undertone, leading towards a yeasty, doughy, fruity bananaish, spicy vanilla, wheaten bread maltiness finish.

Bottle: poured a cloudy slightly dirty golden color ale with a super large foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of banana ester is quite strong with some light wheat malt notes and light cloves as well. Taste is a nice mix between some banana ester with light wheat malt and some subtle cloves notes. Body is a bit too light for style with great carbonation. I really enjoyed the ester but the body and malt backbone was too light and seems to miss a bit of the yeasty finish that I usually enjoy in this style.

50 cl. Batch 423.

Vraiment mauvais.
Note: 4/10

50cl bottle at Glød. Pours slightly hazy golden with a nice white head. Yeasty aroma with fruit, malt and hints of spices. Lightly dry and yeasty finish. Quite nice, but not so hefeweizen in my opinion. Still - nice and refreshing. (2012-08-02)

Medium yellow to orange body that is cloudy with some really huge lumps ending up in the bottom of my glass. The head is fit for a hefeweizen: it’s large, creamy and rocky, white, long-lived and leaves lots of lacing. An inviting sweet aroma, but a bit vaguer than I’d hoped for. Light fruity notes, banana, spices, citrus yeast and dust. Light to moderate sweet taste that is almost drowned in a moderate acidity and a moderate bitterness. Isn’t this a quite unusual interpretation of the style? I mean, with all this acidity and bitterness? But I like it! It’s very refreshing and crisp, although a bit demanding. Moderate flavours with lots of acidic citric notes, perfume, fruits (but the banana notes are very faint) and spices, and actually hints of fermented apple. Medium body (finally a hefeweizen that isn’t watery!), dry texture with a moderate dry finish and medium to lively carbonation. A good one, but I feel a good hefeweizen should be a bit more easy-to-drink than this?

from Erzbierschof - cloudy orange beer under a firm white head; estery with notes of fresh bananas; gentle spicy tones below; subtle but fair carbonation; slightly acidic; lively and tasty; the finish is chewy and fruity with light spicy tones

Courtesy of Erzbierschof. 50cl bottle, bottled 2010, a month from expiry. Pours a cloudy yellow with visible chunks of brown yeast, and a white head; a gusher. Smells of banana, clove, citrus peel, and yeast. Tastes sweet, with a mild tang, and a bit like some cookies. Texture is creamy smooth, with a medium body, and soft-but-active carbonation.
