Holmen1 (5839) - Stavanger, NORWAY - MAR 18, 2013
Flaske fra Polet, batch 513: Et fantastisk flott, kremet skum i mitt Duvel-glass. Deilig aroma av delikat kaffe og røstet malt, uten på noen som helst måte å være påtrengende. Smaken er også i samme gate, og helt nydelig. Munnfølelsen er so smooth, og ettersmaken har akkurat det snev av bitterhet som trengs. Farlig lett å drikke, men så er som kjent fristelser noe man skal gi etter for. Et uhyre velbalansert øl som jeg bare MÅ prøve fra fat ved første anledning!

Flaska från doorstepbrewing, drucken på norgeprovning. Som så ofta med kaffeporter blir kaffetonerna lätt unkna och i både doft och smak tänker jag mer kaffesump än kaffe. Den blir dock bättre efter en stund i glaset när temperaturen stiger. Lätt kropp, lite örtig, viss syrlighet balanserar sötman bra, aningen mandeloljan och så kaffet då som jag tycker funkar sådär.

In bottle. Smells like coffee, chocolate, smoke, grass, and bell peppers. Tastes like caramel and coffee with a refreshing slightly bitter finish. A good beer but the grassy smell and the aftertaste are confusing to me.

Svart i färgen ljusbrunt skum. Doftar rågbröd, chokladkaka, kallt kaffe, rostat bröd. Smakar kallt kaffe, lite syrligt, söt lakrits, rågbröd. lite alkohol och lakrits på slutet.

[ASPETTO] color mogano, impenetrabile; schiuma marrone, media presenza , fine e media persistenza [OLFATTO] buona intensità, con profumi tostati inevidenza, cioccolato e chiaramente caffè, con la sensazione di avere sotto il naso chicchi appena tostati. Qualche nota quasi affumicata trapela unitamente a leggere sensazioni alcoliche [GUSTO] intensa, cioccolatosa con una leggera punta dolciastra che lascia poi spazio a sapori di caffè, però non così intensi come si lasciava intendere nell’aroma; si aggiunge una tocco acidulo, forse dovuto al lattosio aggiunto, simile a quella tipica del cioccolato nero ad alto elevato % di cacao. Finale che vira verso toni amarognoli e torrefatti con un retrogusto piuttosto lungo [TEXTURE] corpo medio, morbida e vellutata al palato con una sensazione finale sulel labbra quasi oleosa, carbonazione contenuta e alcohol percettibile. [COMMENTO FINALE] una porter piuttosto strong, se non nell’alcolicità, almeno nei caratteri piuttosto marcati e nella cosistenza in bocca. la vedo vicina al concetto di imperial stout: robusta, intensa nelle sue note tipiche di cioccolato e caffè, fornendo effettivamente una sensazione caffettosa più marcata del normale. il tocco acidulo non stona e la bevuta risulta piuttosto fluida.

Gerbeer (3697) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 8, 2013
500 ml bottle. Pours a brown/black with medium tan head. Aromas of chocolate and smoke. Flavors of black coffee, oily dark fruit, roasted malts, and light smoke. Quite a bit of carbonation. Cola like.

Borresteijn (6965) - Zaandam, NETHERLANDS - FEB 8, 2013
50cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. ABV 6.5%. Black colour, beige head. Aroma of mild coffee, caramel, molasses, hard roasted malts, light fruity. Flavour is molasses, but not very sweet, mild coffee, roasted malts, some chocolate, light fruity and light bitter creamy coffee finish. Light-bodied, soft carbonation. Nice and mellow coffee porter.

Beerhammaren (1792) - Jyväskylä, FINLAND - FEB 8, 2013
.5l bottle @ Vihreä Haltiatar Pours deep dark brown with low head. Aroma is cocoa and coffee. Some mud cake. Hint of smoke. Flavor is smoke, coffee, chocolate and burned malts. Swell!

Rastacouere (6177) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 4, 2013
Sludgey medium brown pour, relatively pale for a beer whose aromatic rang mostly focuses on roast. Coffee beans, smooth, dry, gently powdery dominate the landscape in which a soft toastiness bears limited sweetness to it, but ventures into roasted nuts and subdued caramel nuances. Little fruitiness involved here, we’re remaining focused on cereals and various degrees of roastiness. Fairly tasty in the genre, having a smooth creaminess that may remind of a chocolate milk shake with a vanilla twist - yet again, the roast and engaging carbonation attenuate any sweet notions nicely, making for a very drinkable dessert if you will. The alcohol is nowhere to be found despite the mouthfeel letting one expect a stronger brew. Round and filling texture without the frequent Haandbryggeriet extravagant carbonation. Good stuff, not really out of the beaten path, but feeling unique in the coimbination of little off-road detours it takes to go there.

faroeviking (10838) - FAROE ISLANDS - FEB 4, 2013
Botella. Black colour, huge light brown creamy stady very nice head. Good lacing. Lovely aroma of roastred malt and coffee along with chocolate. Good filling mouthfeel. Pleasant flavour indeed: lots of roasted malt, good coffee, sweet, good chocolate, nice bitterness. Great porter!
