"Double" (imperial) wheat stout.
This imperial really strikes back. From a strange country far, far away, comes the only Imperial Wheat Stout in the known universe. Once again, the Hand brewery - four guys brewing in their spare time, on an absurdly small scale - boldly goes where no brewery has gone before.

Got me one of these bottles from Riversbend and another from TurdFerguson in the mystery swap: This one pours very dark brown, almost black. The head pours very sizable and one of the darkest heads Ive ever seen. Smell is a suprisingly not what I expected. I was expecting a nice roasty smell, but I got more of a sweet chocolate smell. This one smells almost like mocha. Taste is a little bit more like I was expecting from the smell. There is a fair roastiness in this, chocolate, a hint of vanilla, a touch of coffee and a hint of a nuttiness taste. The more I drink, the more the coffee flavor seems to pull away from the other flavors. This one feels just a touch on the watery side. Carbonation is just right on this one. I wonder if sitting on the other bottle will make this taste a little more complete.

500 mL bottle shared by ebone1988. The pour is a darker black with a ton of sediment. There is a thick and silky light tan head that falls down slowly to a thick ring with a good bit of lace. The aroma is pretty intense. There is a strong roast up front. A thin milky chocolate brings about a bout of messiness that Im not crazy about. There is a hint of smoke that just sucks. The flavor is much of the same. Bitter roast and a light smoke. There is a lactose and a good bit of chocolate. Its light and bitter. Not really my jam. The mouth feel is decently thick with a softer carbonation and a lingering bitterness that Im not digging. Its a decent brew, but there are so many better.

Bottle shared with koleminer20. Batch 865. For the book. Aroma is roasted malt, sweet, wheat, slightly smoky, booze, milk chocolate, eh. Appearance is dark dark brown, light brown head: poured thin. Taste is dark fruit, smoke, roasted malt, coffee, slightly tart, weird. Mouthfeel is medium body, light carbonation, smoky tart dark fruit aftertaste. Overall, its a weird one.

W aromacie intensywny sok bananowy.

Bottle (500 ml), split 2-ways. Pitch black with a thick and easy to revive medium creamy brown head, good retention, leaving some lacing. Aroma is mostley chocolate forward with light smokey notes, molasses and dark fruits. Taste is semi-sweet with dark chocolate, dark/red fruits, molasses, hints of smoke, vanilla notes and light ashes notes. Medium body. Moderate-medium carbonation. Smooth and a bit oily mouthfeel. Berries and chocolate finish. Not super complex, but flavorful and enjoyable chocolate forward RIS. Lack a bit of body to be among the best of the style.

Pours a pitch black color with medium wbeige head. Aroma has roasted malts, spices, dark chocolate, coffee and wheat. Creamy and silky mouthfeel. Taste follows the nose, roasted coffee and toasted malts, bitter chocolate, spices, wood, smoke and a moderate umami backbone, finishing with a slightly tartness (I guess from the wheat).
