Bottle from 16 Tons, Eugene. Pours a dark red, just the slightest head. Faint aroma of barrels. Medium body. Really broad, almost dull, which is a good thing, this beer is about the flavor, not the mouthfeel. Sour is subtle, with just the lightest hint of warming. Wow, finish is SO oaky and satisfying; can’t recall a beer in which the finish does so much for me.

Bottle @ home, cellared 2,5 years. Pours a dark ruby red color and a minimal head. Aroma of ripe dark fruits, acetone, cherries, oak, caramel. Taste is tart, quite acidic with some acetone. Brettanomyces, vanilla, oak, cherries, some sweet caramel, raisins and ripe red fruits. Finish is very dry with lingering oak, red grape tannins and cherry. Very nice. Bottle - 500ml. Dark brown body with low carbonation and a fading, off-white bubbly head. Complex, robust, malty/hoppy aroma with oaky, fruity, and spicy hints. Alcohol is well hidden. Bottle from Coppers, Newcastle. Very dark brown-ruby red in colour with a vanishing head of foam. It has a sour cherry flavour with dried fruit notes and oak on the sour finish. Pretty good.

Brown colors with hint of ruby and purple when held to the light. Diminished tan head. Malt and rich dark fruit in the aromas. Hints of alcohol and lacquer throw things off slightly. Initial paint thinner noted in the front. Light fruit and oak slide in later, but it still has the initial shock of sucking on a siphon tube and catching some crap in the mouth. Some cherry and oak flavor come in late. Too much distraction from the early, crude alcohols. 4/10
