On tap at Haand Festival. An unclear brown beer with a big beige head that lasts. Cute lacing. The arom is quite complex, nothing really standing out, it’s just a mellow blend of funk, cellar, berries, bread hints, alcohol, peach and some alcohol. There’s a touch of burnt malts in the flavor, but it’s way in the back, with all the good things known from the aroma as well. It’s full-bodied, semi-tart and lightly vinegar-ish, with a lasting finish where the berries are a tad more present than initially. A lovely beer indeed, looking forward to my next encounter. 160527

Bottle 330ml. Pours deep purple with low purplish head. Aroma is of cherries, wood, flander’s red-like features. Taste is of cherries, acidity, flander’s red features, blood. Palate: Full bodied, soft carbonation. Overall: impressive, nothing overdone.

Pours a dark burgundy with an offwhite rim that doesn’t leave much lacing. Nose is of cherries, roasted malt and charred wood. Taste is quite sour but not over the top with some nice sour cherry candies. A moderate balancing sweetness. Body and carbonation were moderate and mouthfeel is pretty vinous. A pretty nice dark sour!

czar (9680) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - APR 25, 2017
pours unclear dark burgundy, purple tint, with a small pink cap offering minimal retention and lacing. dark wooden cherries, medium molasses, underlying woodsy caramel, some sweetness - cherry syrup; hint of smokiness, light to medium acidity - some complexity with light tingling acetic notes; spices. moderate carbonation, medium body, semi-sweet tart woodsy-spicy finish. uncommon high gravity lightly smoked cherry barrel-aged tart ale with some fun kriek attributes. enjoyed this awkward concoction.

Bottle from Coppers, Newcastle. Very dark brown with ruby red highlights and no head. It has an initial very sweet fruity cherry flavour followed by a very tart cherry and sour fruity finish. Very good
