This is a collaborate brew with Erlann Eldorsen based on his recipe. Kreklingøl is made with crowbrerries, a very special berry that is picked in Finnmark, the part of Norway north of the Polar circle. The beer is very refreshing with a reddish hue from the berries.

Editor’s note: hey, crowberries are common in most of Norway and can even be found at Rejkjær Sande in Denmark.

Bottle 500ml.

Unclear medium to dark amber - red orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, fruity - berry - sortbær = crowberries, light smoke - plastic - shoe polish. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20110129]

Bottled, thanks Rune! Hazy copper colour, minimal head. Tart nose with some blueberry-like nots. Dry with some weastiness and lactic acid. Lightly caramelly malt together with slight alcohol warmth balances the berryish tartness. Low bitterness.

Bottle from Bier Koning. Cloudy amber beer. Small pale tan head. Crisp dry palate. Slightly tart fruit tasting vaguely like a cross between cherry, tangerine and a splash of lemon. Nice! It’s backed by a very slightly smoky pale malt. Dry palate, a bit too much so. Would have really preferred an unsmoked pale malt base to let those ’rare’ crowberries shine through! :)

Bottle at ChrisO Holiday Tasting, London - thanks to Henrik. Super gusher! Pours cloudy purple with a light, foamy head. Funky berry nose. Moderately sweet flavor with sweat, funk, light grass and berries. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Tart finish, sugary berries, mild funk. Alright.

Bottle at ChrisO tasting, thanks to Henrik, 30/12/12. Mega Gusher !!! as rlgk touched on - he wore half the bottle about his person, Henrik and I got off lightly, one damp leg for me ! Hazed dark amber with almost no head. Nose is a little dungy, caramel, sweet sugars. Taste follows, sugars, dark toffee, sour fruit notes. Medium bodied with soft carbonation with some light bitterness in the finish. Ok stuff.
