Hm...I’ve had a regular 3 year old Odin’s Tipple and it had the same tart qualities. Some people mention infection, I guess it’s the wild yeast plus the oak. Not bad but nowhere as good as the regular Odin’s Tipple.
Bottled. Pours deep dark brown with a little tan head. Aroma of dark roasted malt, chocolate and spicy notes, wood, a little smoke, vanilla notes and with some dark fruit. Sweet flavor that ends up quite dry with an alcohol bite. Full bodied, oily texture and flat carbonation. An excellent Impy. thewolf (12932) - Kolding, DENMARK - APR 25, 2014

On tap @ La Capsule - Lille, FR. Color: oily black beer with no carbonation and small brown head. Smell: high malt nose, chocolate and coffee. Bottle from Iron Abbey. Ink black with darkest head I’ve ever seen. Rich malt nose and hint of roast and cocoa. Roast is most prominent but malt is there to prop up burnt malt. Hops play second fiddle. Alcohol burn builds as this warms. One to sit back in front of a fire, with a good book or good friend and enjoy. Bring 2. Bottle. It pours jet black with a thick tan head. The nose is rich roast, toast, wood, salted caramel, tangy dark fruits and cocoa. The taste is rich roasty, toast, tangy dark fruits, earth, white grape, jammy fruits and sherbet with a dry finish. Full body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Interesting. Pretty tangy, but tasty enough.
