Pours dark/black with an earthly aroma, coffee, raisins and dark fruits. Taste quite sour, oak, grapes. Thin texture with high carbonation.

Pour jet black with very little head. Smells sweet like caramel. Taste is complex. Starts out sour almost like a dry red wine at first then gets sweeter and warmer more like a traditional stout. Being that a lot of reviews say this beer is sour I don’t think infection is the issue I think it’s meant to be that way and I really liked that quality actually. This is different than. Most stouts I’ve had and I really enjoyed it.

So this is a sour stout. Not my first one and I really liked the others I had. But in this case I really don’t know if this is how it was supposed to turn out or if it was infected by some bacteria. Anyway, the end result is not that great. I enjoyed the regular version more.

500 ml bottle @ "Glød Bar", Oslo. October 23, 2014, Brewed in 2012 and bottled February 06, 2013. Beer from a tulip glass. Aroma is tart, sour, roasted malt and some oak and wood. Black in color with a thin beige head and low carbonation. Tastes sour, vinous, a bit yeast and a bit dry as well. The beer ends with a dry bitter finish. A bit to sour and woody / oak for my taste.

berntholer (1619) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - OCT 19, 2014
thick chocolate brown head fades with tiny lacing. coffee coloured. aroma is very vinous, blueberries, some roasted malts. taste is tart, citric acid, acetic acid, blueberries, wry from tannins with a long dry bitter wry finish. medium body and carbonation. the abv is very well hidden. this is a sour stout, but perhaps it was not intentional (infected). but i do like it and it reminds me a lot ofmadrugada obscura, which i also liked, but this has nothing todo with the original odin. bottle 50cl / bd apr-2012, barreled feb-2013

olio (10669) - Tampere, FINLAND - SEP 20, 2014
50 cl bottle. Brewed on 26.04.2013. Bottled on 16.12.2013.
Pours black color with a small off-white head. Roasted malts on the nose with caramel and some chocolate, mild cocoa and vanilla also. Very sour dark berry notes on the flavor, probably infected, cocoa and some malts appear also. Unfortunately an infected bottle, I had high hopes for this.

50 cl bottle @ home. Brewed 26.04.2012, bottled 06.02.2013
Aroma is oaty with dark chocolate and hints of soy sauce. Flavour is rather tart with woody tones, sour cherries, bilberries and some roastiness. I wonder if the tartness is intended? Feels like a sour brown.

500ml bottle

Bottled 06.02.13 - Pours pitch black with a smooth dark brown head. Aroma of roasty malts, licorice, oak, wood, vanilla and dark chocolate. Taste is tart blackcurranty, woody, roasty and slightly sourish with some oak, vanilla and dark chocolatey notes. Finish is tart, roasty and oaky with some stingy woody notes. Feels a bit off.

hopscotch (11410) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - AUG 3, 2014
Bottle... Tar-black pour with a small, fleeting, rusty head. The nose is a blend of fudge, dark mocha, bourbon, oak and assorted, acidic, dark berries. Full-bodied with airy carbonation. The flavor is charred and lightly tart with lactic acidity and some booziness. Finishes tart and roasty. Infected? Probably, but still enjoyable. Bottle courtesy of darkguardian!

boFNjackson (4230) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUL 9, 2014
Bottle... Poured jet black with a thin, light brown head. Aroma of tart, ripe berries with some roast. Tart, sour, lots of dark roast and charred grains. Acidic and vinous wine-like notes too. Really nice when the roast comes in to balance the tartness. Still, though... Very sour.
