Odins Tipple was meant to be a strong beer, but we changed our minds...its still strong but we wont follow the mega strong trend. It should be possible to make great beer without the extreme alcohol potency. Odins Tipple is now approx 11% abv, it’s a dark almost black beer from lots and lots of chocolate malt. Its the malt that contributes the flavor...no added coffee or anything else, Its got a great body without being old engine oil and still very drinkable due to the wild yeast we use. This beer is made with a single strain of wild yeast and the recipe is dead simple.

The pour reveals a black color with a small brown head. The aroma reveals the promise of decadent chocolate malt and roastyness. The flavor is mostly about malt, roasted and rich, decadent chocolate malt. It’s sweet, but not too much. The body is medium to full while the texture is vinous and the carbonation is soft. Interesting, not one of my favorites from Haandbryggeriet, but still worthwile.

Helt svart med beige, kremete skum. Lukter kaffe, lakris og nøtter. Mye det samme i smaken sammen med karamell og noe mørke bær. Herlig, tykk munnfølelse.

500 ml Batch 973 bottled Apr. 2016. Inky black with the creamiest non-nitro head ever seen. Aroma is dark chocolate, dark toffee, dark bread, dark fruit, graham cracker, real licorice and a touch of blackberry. Flavors of the same mix plus some espresso with cream, roasted nut, char and ash. Medium-heavy body is silky smooth with low-medium carbonation and the most dangerous drinkability, with no hint of the 11%. I guess my ratebeer quest is over, this is my only perfect score ever given.

Aroma is an intense chocolate cake, liquor and had a nice smokiness that works very well. Full bodied, creamy, the taste has a chocolate overload, with some slight nuts and smoke notes. Silky, balanced and complex, enjoyed every sip of it.

From 32 Great Power. In Teku glass. Watching House of Cards 1x13-2x01. Everything well balanced, with the alcohol well integrated. As time passes, its bitterness start to increase but without breaking the balanced feeling

Nice beige head, not that much on the nose but great dry chocolate, leather, earthy, even somewhere somewhat tart taste. Indeed decently high body w/o being oily. I like it

Odin’s Tipple comes as a bit of surprise in the current beer climate. Breweries are gradually trying to make Imperial Stouts into bigger behemoths and with more and more ingredients. Odin’s Tipple has a kind of purity to it. It’s a black beer with roasty, chocolaty, and coffee-like flavors. The result is something less exotic than many modern Stouts, but there’s also less room for error and the brewers’ talent is given a chance to shine. There’s something about these hearty, bitter, and straightforward Scandinavian Imperial Stouts that I can’t resist.

Kolor czarny, piwo nieprzejrzyste.

Quite roasty in both aroma and flavor. A little bit too watery, feels kinda light - not something i would expect in an imperial stout

Bottle. A- Leather, chocolate, subtle sharpie. A- Black color, black liquid, brown head. T- Leather, cocoa, mild roast, subtle alcohol. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, roasty finish. O- Another good beer from the Hand Brewery. A pretty traditional imperial stout that is all things but boring. Not a lot to say about this one, other than it’s good and balanced. Sometimes that’s all you need.

Bottle thanks to Jeroen! Pours almost opaque black with a fast effervescing brownish head. Aroma liquorice, cocoa and molasses. Taste is caramel sweet, slight red berry tartness, cocoa sweet, vanilla sweet, leather, oak.
