Odins Tipple was meant to be a strong beer, but we changed our minds...its still strong but we wont follow the mega strong trend. It should be possible to make great beer without the extreme alcohol potency. Odins Tipple is now approx 11% abv, itís a dark almost black beer from lots and lots of chocolate malt. Its the malt that contributes the flavor...no added coffee or anything else, Its got a great body without being old engine oil and still very drinkable due to the wild yeast we use. This beer is made with a single strain of wild yeast and the recipe is dead simple.

Bottled. A pitch black beer with a thin tan head. The aroma is very roasted combined with notes of soy sauce and chocolate. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of roasted malt, soy sauce, and a bit of chocolate, leading to a bitter finish. Thanks yespr for sharing.

Bottled. Quite much opaque black colour, not much head. Aroma is caramel, sugar, strong alcohol, liquor and some wood. Flavour is quite much the same. Some chocolate also. Quite strong alcoholic and liquoriceish sweet notes.

Draught at Bishopís Arms Folkungagatan, Stockholm. Opaque black, minimal head. Vast aroma of Baileys and brandy. Malty with lots of chocolate, sweet licorice and Mars bar. Full bodied with oily mouthfeel. Potent but edgeless. Intensely warming without being boozy at all. Haandbryggeriet has certainly progressed in my eyes lately. In my point of view their early beers were eye-catching but superficial. As of lately they are real stunners, combining depth and and attractive surface.

Opaque black beer with the darkest brown head I have ever seen! Crisp palate which wasnít expected. Dark rich malt with a brandyish tone. Finishes dry and warming with a trace of banana. A bit different.

UPDATED: OCT 2, 2010 Draught at Churchkey, shared with Bryan and Shawn. Black, with a head that resembles the froth on a freshly brewed cup of espresso. Aroma of dark roasted coffee, bitter cocoa. Taste is similar, slightly bitter and chocolate finish. Nice complexity. 4.3 Second tasting on draught at Borefts Beer Festival 2010. Smoky flavors more evident, and some vanilla. Great stuff. 4.5
