Quick-review; Dark, almost pitch black colour. Big on the peat, good mouthfeel, rich, sweet aftertaste with hints of dried fruit. Good, alittle over the top, needs storeage? BeerandBlues2 (13823) - Escondido, California, USA - JAN 16, 2011
Bottle at 13th Richmond Gathering, courtesy of BrewEngineer. Pours clear brown with an average, fizzy tan head, long retention with excellent lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (bread, caramel, toffee, nutty), light hops (woody), and light esters (fruity) with notes of smoke, prune, and dates. Flavor is heavy malt (bread, caramel, toasted, nutty), light hops (woody), and average esters (fruity) with notes of smoke, wood, prune, and dates. Medium body, warmth, and carbonation, and low creaminess with a dry finish. HomeBrewHawk (464) - De Soto, Kansas, USA - JAN 15, 2011
500ml bottle served in a Tank 7 tulip. Poured a deep brown with two fingers of tan head. Smokey aroma with a little sausage, dark malt, also a fair amount of citrus hops. Medium bodied. Plenty of smoke in the flavor along with hop bitterness. Smoke lingers in the finish. The smoke flavor became a little like liquid smoke as it warmed, which distracted. One of these is plenty. Richmond 13th. Brownish black, slight head. Aroma is pumpernickel and coffee. Flavor is a match. A bit towards sausage, but not bad. Well done, the smoke freaks should go nuts over this.

(Sample Date: 1/19/2011 Source:BrewEngineer) Apple like smoke over creosote and dark fruit notes with a faint sourness. Slightly cloudy dark amber brown with small fluffy tan head. Smoky flavor with lots of roasty character. Light bitter stringency. Light to medium body and mouth feel. Finish is dry with some nice warming. Tasty. Sampled at the Richmond Gather XIII. Clear very deep mahogany pour with good tan head. Definitely bambergy. Smokey bacon hammy, similar to aecht schlenkerla in many ways, but not quite as good. A little cardboard though. Still, really good brew. Drake (14078) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 15, 2011
Bottle courtesy of BrewEngineer. Thanks! Pours a dark reddish brow, clear, with a thin tan head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of smoke, anise, roasted malts, faint berry-like fruits. The taste is smoke, leafy hops, faint roasted malts. Medium bodied. Pretty much a bacon/sausage beer, but a good one. Gfei (17) - Virginia, USA - JAN 15, 2011
Smoky and roasty aroma. Flavor is sweet with smoke and roasted malt. Moderate carbonation with a slick mouthfeel. Very nice smoked beer. SirLimpsalot (4550) - SWEDEN - JAN 12, 2011
Smell: Salty smoked ham
Taste: Very mild compared to the nose. Salty but light.
Nice but nothing spectacular.
After taste is a bit too thin and watery
