(Bottle, batch #273, at Maltainen Riekko, Helsinki) When serving me the waitress said that this would be smokier than Schlekerla Märzen. Well, that wasn’t true. There was smoke and tar both in the aroma and the taste but it wasn’t really dominating. I could also sense liquorice, roastedness and fennel seeds. The last one came to me as a surprise but the flavour did fit in. No fennel seed were added according to the very minimalistic label. Aftertaste contained some metallicness which dropped the overall points a bit but otherwise good smoked beer. DSG (15119) - Tel Aviv, ISRAEL - OCT 8, 2010
UPDATED: OCT 12, 2010 [9/24/10] Bottle at Borefts Beer Festival 2010. Dark brown. Aroma of smoked sausage, a bit of malt and caramel. Smoky flavor with some wood, caramel, malt and some meat. Medium to full-bodied and slightly over-carbonated. gyllenbock (9664) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - DEC 31, 2010
Dark brown with a small, slightly tan head. Mild aroma and taste of smoke, malt, wood, ham and spices. Medium mouth feel. Not spectacular but good. HomeBrewHawk (464) - De Soto, Kansas, USA - JAN 15, 2011
500ml bottle served in a Tank 7 tulip. Poured a deep brown with two fingers of tan head. Smokey aroma with a little sausage, dark malt, also a fair amount of citrus hops. Medium bodied. Plenty of smoke in the flavor along with hop bitterness. Smoke lingers in the finish. The smoke flavor became a little like liquid smoke as it warmed, which distracted. One of these is plenty. abemorsten (3652) - Mosterøy, NORWAY - JAN 31, 2011
Shared bottle at Cardinal. Clear deep amber with a light brown film. Intense smokey aroma like you get when cleaning out your fireplace. Behind the dominant smokey impression in the mouth, there’s alcohol, sweetness and acidity along with roasted notes. Dry palate. Medium body. Gentle carbonation.

Tamarind and toffee nose, some plums and light smoke. Taste is lightly sweet, lightly bitter, decent smoke, slightly salty, iodine, some toffee and cola. maneliquor (3514) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - MAR 29, 2011
UPDATED: MAY 30, 2011 Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours a deep brown with a huge tan head. The head quickly dissipates to a one finger width tan head. Aroma is odd. Bacon, peat, raisins. The bacon really comes through in an unpleasant way. Not as prominant in the taste. Flavour is smokey with a hint of dark dried fruits. I get some apple in there too. Odd mix in this one but very balanced. Leaves an oily, peated taste in my mouth. Whiskey drinkers will like this one chibuck (3513) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 30, 2011
On tap at Local Option into a tulip. The name means smoke without fire, pretty accurate...Black pour with a light tan head, ok retention and lacing...The aroma is lots of smoke but in a subdued way, as if its something that was "smoked", lacking a salty pork character which I miss, lots of peat and earth. I like it, but not awesome...The taste is heavily smoked, like drinking a bottle of liquid smoke, or lacking a piece of charred wood. No balance of pork or sweetness, just the smoke.
Like the thinking here, just not there yet. RuneStumo (2696) - Haugesund, NORWAY - APR 11, 2011

500 ml bottle. Sparkling dark brown. Crystal clear tall light beige head that clings to the glass. Fizzy aroma with nuts and smoked sausages. Sweetish nutty malts with a raisiny edge. Plums and vinegar. Dark chocolate. High carbonation level. Nice smoked beer, especially when it settles down.
