Bottle, shared with Parksy. Medium brown pour, not too dark, with a lively light brown head. Aroma is sweet and fruity, and a little brothy, a surprise to me that there is little smokiness in the aroma. Dark fruits are the initial flavour that greets you on the palate, then some caramel with just a hint of campfire smoke. Medium bitterness in the finish. Restrained smokiness actually makes this a more interesting brew than I had anticipated. Probably won’t win over any hopheads though, as the hops are equally restrained. Still a nice brew. Opaque black color, big foamy brownish head. Smokey nose with some tart notes and wood. Medium-bodied, active carbonation. Licorice, caramel maltyness, smoke, a bit tarry. Nose didn’t promise much but flavor is very good.
UPDATED: MAY 14, 2017 Original rating from 7/11/2013: 500mL bottle, batch 389. Pours opaque black with a huge light brown head. Aroma of plums, biscuity malt and a little hops. Update 14/5/2017: 500mL bottle from 2011. Better! The smoke and hops are more noticeable and are well integrated. Fspirit (54) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - NOV 5, 2013
Small and pretty white head. Fruit and burned wood in the aroma. Taste is roasty malts, dried fruits and like that burned porkchops kind of taste. A little bitternes in the end. I would call this a smoked black ipa. jookos (6821) - FINLAND - OCT 25, 2013

, 7.7. Black, frothy tan head. Perfumy, floral, slight green hoppyness. Roasty body, some smokyness. Quite smooth even if bitter and dry, feels light, like whipped cream. Hoppy citrus greens in finish. Leaves a jerky, burnt bbq steak flavour after the hops mellow.
Bottle. Pours very dark brown, opaque, with beige head. Nose of berry, smoky malt, wood. Flavour is berry, citrus, smoke comes in at the finish, along with coffee. This is a really well balanced beer. Feels a bit bigger than 6.7% but I guess that’s just from the smoke. These guys are really solid with the smoke and never go too far; I’m definitely a fan. Pours deep black with thick, off-white and creamy head. Smell has lots of smoked malts, coffee and come citrussy hops. Starts with strong roasted malts, bitterish coffee notes and some fruity hops. Overall surprisingly mild! The middle part is more hoppy, with some citrus and grapefruit, paired with roasted coffee and some chocolate. Goes into a coffee’ish and roasty finish with lots of citrussy hops!
