500ml bottle pours almost black in color with a 2 finger light brown head that retains well and leaves some nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is quite smoky with not much else. Taste is also smoky with some piney hop bitterness and a dark chocolatey sweetness. Medium bodied with some light carbonation. A very strong flavored beer which is a little harsh on the palate, but interesting enough to get a must try at least once.

December 2017 - Tasting in Hackney. Bottle shared with big thanks to Leighton. As 'HaandBryggeriet Sundland Kreosot'. Very dark brown, slight red hue, foamy brown head. Aroma is redcurrant, smoke, earthy. Body is very overcarbonated – light and frothy with fizzy carbonation. Taste is smoked, malt character is light and creamy with the carbonation, dark chocolate-earthy-bourbon biscuit and spicy vibes. Spoilt by the carbonation issues, but decent enough. (6-4-7-2-14=3.3)

UPDATED: DEC 13, 2017 Vintage bottle from LKS. It pours opaque black with a thick tan head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, charred wood, smoke, coffee, tar, dark fruits, dark chocolate, peppery spice and black olives. The taste is dry, bitter, earthy, charred wood, rich roasted malt, toasty spice, cacao, rocky road, earthy, spice, bit of booze, tar and earth with a dry, roasted finish. Medium body and high, foamy carbonation. Decent enough for an aged black ipa.

Bottle. Sensoric. Tasted this some time ago. Dark brown to black with light brown, semi-thick, medium head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma is moderately malty (roasted, burnt, smoked- woody) with lightly spicy and licorice character, also lightly tart. Taste is light to medium sweet with moderate bitterness, which later on becomes drier and more intense. Medium body, watery to oily texture, rather soft carbonation, finish is super roasted with strong tart and woody accents. In general I found this beer odd, but very interesting. This one is not for the beginners, it has very complex taste and aroma. For sure it has to be on the top list of smokey and woody geeks.

Backlog. From tap at Mi2 at Cardinal 22.04.13. Slightly unclear dark brown. Low, but persistent head. Aroma of smoke, some sweetness, strawberries and amber malt. Tate of dark caramel and citrus, with some smoke. Smoke, sourness and hops in aftertaste. Appropriate carbonation. An exciting beer, but a little to sour,
