Norwegian ale with cranberries and currants added. The Haand brewers - four guys making beer in their spare time, on an absurdly small scale - specialize in recreating old Norwegian farm beers. Here’s one made with a variety of different grains, and some typical fruits from the region, handpicked by the brewers. It is fermented by airborne wild yeast, unfiltered, and unpasteurized. Wild Thing, you make everything...groovy.

Rastacouere's rating

   AROMA 4/10   APPEARANCE 3/5   TASTE 4/10   PALATE 2/5   OVERALL 10/20
Rastacouere (6177) - Montreal, Quebec, - NOV 15, 2012
A moderate gusher upon opening. Veiled orangey dark pink hued ale covered by a slice of white that lasts. Lightly lactic, gently flowery, mineral, very phenolic nose barely hints at the fruits this contains. Rather earthy pits, branches and... bile meet in this rather messy ale. In mouth, carbonation takes a lot of room and the beer is very dry, the fruit sugars having apparently been eaten up through and through, letting a texture that feels on the very light side for a Haandbryggeriet. They still manage to pull out very noticeable smoke flavours out of this and it is fairly complementary to the minerally fruits, but there is little else going on and some of the phenolic compounds, giving plastic and medicinal flavours a plenty, are detrimental to the enjoyment. Funny how I really love that brewery and wild beers, yet combining the two leads to a disappointment.

Backlog, ocena przepisana z untappd, w ramach uzupelniania profilu na ratebeer. Dominacja nut karmelowych i przejrzalych owoców, wyrazne nuty octowe, mimo umiarkowanej kwasowosci. Jakies takie nieco przegnile, ble.

7% bottle from Coppers, Newcastle. Cloudy amber coloured with no head. It has a cider apple and berry flavour with slight tartness and oak, earth and bitter-sweet currants on the finish. Too high an ABV for the flavour but not bad.
