DATE: August 7, 2016... OCCASION: finished a fantastic pre-birthday weekend with Matt, Aaron and Jer by entertaining the McCrackens and the Morgans--mnow relaxing while watching the Olympics... GLASSWARE: Weihenstephan weizen... pours a dense, almost opaque orange amber body with stray effervescence.... an off-white head is thick and two-fingered, settling to a full finger of froth and arching fingers that create camouflage-style tracings... spicy banana, pepper, and bubblegum, tobacco and ginger... light to medium-bodied, with a soft opening and a lingering aftertaste of banana... the impact is at the throat, refreshing and with some froth... the flavor profile is spicy and agreeable, with the aforementioned pepper, banana, clove and tobacco delivering a confident, satisfying experience... having liked their hefeweizen and Oktoberfest, I am not surprised to find this weisse a nice balance between slammable and savoring... a beer that no doubt embodies the virtues of the genre...
Earlier Rating: 7/12/2013 Total Score: 4.4
Date tasted: July 11, 2013... Glassware: Koenig Pilsener... Occasion: protein for tomorrow’s run--and a post-Bynam-signing toast....Appearance: thick, cloudy burnt orange body; equally thick, creamy head that exhibits nooks and crags like a sponge’s cross-section--worthy of patience... Aroma: beautiful aroma of orange,, banana, and some subtle spices that round the scent; quite pleasant... Palate: rather dry finish; prominent introduction, with a bit of crunch at the teeth... Taste: a surprisingly malty aftertaste; banana and clove with a comfortably clean consistency--refreshingly subtle... Overall: one of the upper-tier weisse beers I’ve tasted; a no-frills genre-setting stud; with lemon, my fourth of July wing beer; on a ratings night, a reminder I probably should have reviewed this summers ago....

Beautiful pour & pretty tasty! Attractive cloudy orange w/ a white head & good lacing. The aroma has some nice Belgian spice. The taste is clean yet memorable which is rare for the style. Has more of a Belgian ale feel than a Weiss. Spicy & overall delightful for what’s typically a boring style!

Pours with a massive white head. Herbal nose with some grain. Coriander and hints of golden syrup cake finish smoothly. Good.

wazig gouden/oranje met volle fijne witte kraag. aroma van citrus, koriander, lichte jonge banaan, mout, tarwe, kruidnagel. smaken zijn redelijk zacht, matig zoet, citrus, sinaasappel, mout, tarwe, graan, banaan, iets dun qua textuur, gist, geen top weizen maar ok.

Zitrusfruchtiger Antrunk, säuerlicher Körper mit leichter Banane. Feingehopft (Hallertauer Herkules / Hallertauer Taurus) im Abgang.

Bottle, alko. Golden hazy. Creamy puffy malted wheat sweetness on nose, huge ripe banana. Med bodied, slight thin, good estery though, with a bit dry, wheaty finish. Like the clovy weihenstephan a little better, abd the body could be a little malty chewyer, but nice and classically flavoured.

Drinked in bottle. At the nose is quite farmy (something that I personally like), bready notes, banana, pepper and other spices. In mouth is medium light bodied, quite carbonated. Full mouthfeel but at the same time refreshing. Hints of fruits, black pepper and cloves

500 ml swing top bottle. Gushing alert! I popped the bottle and it rushed out of the vessel like a damn volcano. Know that, dear beer fellows. Huge everlasting fluffy white head. The beer showed itself in the glass as a beautiful foggy yellow honey brew. Surprisingly lazy and soft carbonation (gushing result?). Aroma gives me a strong yeast profile; some bubblegum & banana; distinct wheat aka flour; vague hop spiciness. Flavour is big wheat, sour yeast, pleasant floral spiciness. Smooth mouthfeel. A-class hefeweizen. Less phenolic and sour as many other examples are. Wonderful!

Aroma: wheat, bread, banana, spicy. Appearance: yellow, haze, with white head. Taste: wheat, bread, spicy. Palate: medium body, smooth, medium carbonation.
