COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
“Munich Gold” closely resembles our Münchner Hell in terms of taste and mainly owes its popularity to a slightly higher original gravity and the malty note. The result is a full-bodied yet mild taste which delivers an increasingly bitter note before culminating into an aromatic finish. A real treat for true beer connoisseurs!

The types of barley grown in the Swabian Jura and in the Upper Palatinate Region of Bavaria are excellently suited for the production of this timeless classic.

Hacker-Pschorr has been brewing beer in the traditional Bavarian manner since 1417. The high-quality beers the brewery produces are all brewed in accordance with the Bavarian Purity Law and contain only water, malt and hops.

Bottle from marks and spencer in Guiseley. Not much on the nose, pours dark amber. This is a strong lager but has a nice after taste with some very late fruit notes.

Aroma: Medium grainy, honey, bread crust. No hops. Appearance: Slightly hazy, golden body. Small, white head, fine bubbles, low retention. Flavour: Medium-high honey, medium grainy, Medium bitterness. Dry, papery finish with lingering honey aromas. Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium carbonation, creamy. Overall: The beer shows strong oxidation notes. Not the example I was told it will be. Probably suffered some heat damage on the way to South Africa. 500 ml bottle, poured. 4A. Munich Helles

Kauge (1648) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - SEP 16, 2016
Bottle from local supermarket. BB 03.2017. Pours clear bright golden with good off-white head. The aroma is damp malts with grassy-herbal hoppiness. Tastes of cereals, a bit papery, moderately sweet, with a tingle of grassy hops in the finish. I wonder what the ratio is between hops and hop extract. Crispish yet moderate carbonation, lightish medium body. Pleasantly soft mouthfeel. Not made to blow anyone’s mind but it’s perfectly adequate. Nice for a lager.

Aromatic, malty, grassy hops, slight phenolic note. Light body, slightly grainy carbonation, malt sugars. Dry grass, herbal note, light Euro hop bitterness. Better than avg lager without the nasty adjunct taste. (canned 04/27/16)

nephirem (293) - CROATIA - SEP 10, 2016
Pours clear golden body with medium sized, soapy looking white head. Nose is malts, grass, some subtle licorice and hops. Medium body. Regular carbonation, soft and smooth texture and mouthfeel. Bittersweet taste, very subtle and mild. Aroma of malts, yeast, grains, grass, herbs. Finish is somewhat dry and herbal, slightly peppery. Overall, very decent lager. Clean, crisp and refreshing.
