“Munich Gold” closely resembles our Münchner Hell in terms of taste and mainly owes its popularity to a slightly higher original gravity and the malty note. The result is a full-bodied yet mild taste which delivers an increasingly bitter note before culminating into an aromatic finish. A real treat for true beer connoisseurs!

The types of barley grown in the Swabian Jura and in the Upper Palatinate Region of Bavaria are excellently suited for the production of this timeless classic.

Hacker-Pschorr has been brewing beer in the traditional Bavarian manner since 1417. The high-quality beers the brewery produces are all brewed in accordance with the Bavarian Purity Law and contain only water, malt and hops.

Pours golden with a thin wispy off-white head. Notes of munich malt, toasted biscuits, bread, light herbs, sweet chewy. Medium bodied, lightly sweet with soft carbonation. Very nice.

Appearance: clear pale gold with two fingers of rocky white head, good retention and moderate soapy lacing. (4/5) Aroma: sweet grainy pale malt, citrus, berry, grassy hay. (6/10) Taste: moderate sweet, moderate-low bitter. (7/10) Palate: medium-light body, moderate carbonation, crisp off-dry mild bitter finish. (3/5) I’m not generally a fan of lagers, and I left any reverence for the Reinheitsgebot behind a long time ago - but this is quite pleasant. No hint of adjunct sickliness, just clean pale malt and aromatic noble hops. As Helles Lagers go, this has got to be near the top of the heap. Now, if only I had a big pretzel to go with it, or maybe a pork hock… (13/20)

Clear golden beer with standar carbonation white head, dough aromas and caramel notes are perceived, the beer flavor itself is sweet and the maltiness is maybe quite high. Sadly no hops are perceived, which actually increase the sweetness and the alcoholic aftertaste.

Bottle, from Marks & Spencer. Gold, thin short lived white head and gentle condition. Soft sweet malty grain and slightly citrusy hop notes in the nose. Soft, sweet and malty in the mouth with a muted hop bitterness, lingering malty grain notes in the finish.

I was gifted a cold pack of 6 this morning of these. Made my mouth water seeing them. danke X 2,016. This is a highly drinkable, enjoyable and unencumbered bier. Forgot to mention, I gave 2 of the six to another lover of beer on the way home. Good discussion ahead when we meet again. This is what beer is all about, oft’times.

Bottle from marks and spencer in Guiseley. Not much on the nose, pours dark amber. This is a strong lager but has a nice after taste with some very late fruit notes.
