The pleasure of yesteryear
Velvety matte shine – Smooth, full-bodied flavor
Munich Kellerbier Anno 1417 shines with a seductive golden honey color. A beer with a distinctive character: earthy, bold, quaffable and yet refreshingly mild and light. Just like a real Bavarian.

Creamy and effervescent, typical of unfiltered beers, a delightful ticklish mouthfeel. Aromas of caramel, honey and plum dominate and emphasize the beer’s malty, spicy flavor. Unmistakable hints of apple and grapefruit bring in a fruity freshness.

Our Munich Kellerbier, a beer like from the good old days when beer was born. After aging four weeks, it is bottled unfiltered, which still preserves all its yeast vitamins and trace elements.

Since 1417, Hacker Pschorr stands for traditional Bavarian brewing. The quality beers of Hacker-Pschorr are all brewed according to the Bavarian Purity Law and contain only hops, malt and water. 12.5°

500ml. bottle in Mae Kasa, Thailand. Pours a hazy yellowish with a frothy head. Aroma of malt and hops with a mild fruitiness. Rather subtle. Taste is better pronounced with fruity, malty sweetness. Mild carbonation and watery mouthfeel. Drinkable but not as vibrant as some other Kellerbiers.

Bottle from Marks and Spencer. Pours a golden orange with a very slight amount of cloudiness and a foaming white head. Remarkably clear for an unfiltered beer. The nose is sweet malts and honey. The taste is also quite sweet, with toffee and honey predominating, and some notes of apple and plums. Medium bitter finish. A nicely balanced beer with a good mouthfeel. Not greatly exciting, but very pleasant to drink.

Appearance: slightly hazy medium gold with two fingers of rocky white head, moderate retention and patchy soapy lacing. (3/5) Aroma: bready caramel malt, honey, light apple, earth. (6/10) Taste: moderate sweet, moderate-low bitter. (6/10) Palate: medium body, moderate carbonation, short duration mild bitter finish. (3/5) The beer is fine - it’s not as crisp and clean as the Munich Gold, but as a Kellerbier, I wouldn’t have expected it to be. It’s not exciting, but there’s no doubt it’s very well done. But I absolutely love the “Awww yis, gonna get my drunk on” expression of the dude on the label. Been there, dude, been there. (12/20)

Hazy reddish brown color. Very malt aroma, like cookies and fresh baked bread, with a touch of fruitiness and some herbal hop character. Wonderfully balanced palate. Good sweet and malty start with some bready notes, finishes hoppy, but not too much. Has some yeast fruitiness and a bit of tartness. Excellent keller.

Bottle from the Good Spirits Co Wine & Beer. Pours a cloudy amber-gold with a huge frothy head. Nose is rather simple soft toffee malt. Taste is the best part of this beer, a satisfying fruity, slightly salty-sweet flavour, with a coppery note. Palate is a wee bit sticky, not quite refreshing. A decent brew.
