Dark in color, malty nose, generous flavor; yet with a clean, hoppy finish, Hacker-Pschorr Alt Munich Dark is the essence of dark beers.

Draft pours deep clear chestnut with garnet hues, with a fluffy lasting khaki head. Flawless. Nice nutty caramel aroma. The flavor is quite nutty and sweet with toffee prominent, not much bitterness. Medium body, soft carbonation. Very solid dunkaroo here. Oh and this is my 3900th rating. NBD, I tick.

From a bottle. Looks and smells the part, great example of style, roasted aroma and flavours.

Bottiglia.

.5L on draft at Gustavs. Pours a dark brown red color with a medium beige head. A big sweet toasty malty nose. Big sweet fruit, berry, chocolate, brown sugar, smooth easy going brew. Nice.

Bottle at the Pschorr Wirtgarten in Munich. Very dark red-brown with a foamy head. Nice malty taste, light subtle roast. Quite a good dunkel/porter. I enjoyed the beer - but not the service, have this at another establishment!

Donkerbruin bier met schuim. Smaak is licht zoet en licht bitter, chokolade en noot achtig. Gedronken van tap in Hackerhaus Munchen.

Bottle, 10C. Clear brown with a pale beige head. Aroma of bread, nits, chocolate, grass. Lightish bodied with moderate carbonation. Easy going but tasty enough with sweet chocolate and bread but nice grass and spicy hops in a dryish finish. Pretty good in a style I still haven’t warmed to all that much.

3.3

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - deep amber to chestnut, with a decent thin head. Nose - toffee, light biscuits (caramunich, I’m guessing). A hint of red fruit. Taste - tangy toffee, again a hint of red fruit, Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a dry finish. Overall - a solid Dunkel.
