$1 bottle at grottos on main. Have to say it was old because the date said 07.05 and it probably month/year. Tastes very sweet as you’d expect but you also get the toatsted malts in there too. Im giving this a better rating than i feel it deserves because it was old .

October 2017 (bottle date - 2016) - found this beer by accident at the Petaluma Grocery Outlet for a mere $4 per six pack and loved it so much that I've returned for several more cases since. This is listed by BJCP as one of the commercial examples of a Märzen and it certainly does live up to that style. As mentioned by others, the aroma doesn't really do this beer justice. The flavor is excellent, with a heavy emphasis on the malt, and just a touch of that great European hops flavor, which for you West Coast IPA fans, won't even read on your bitterness scale. Overall, I can't say this is a perfect beer, but it certainly is perfect for the style and has quickly become one of my favorite fall beers.

From Oct 2005 Bottle says produced on 05.05 Pours a gorgeous copper-gold with a delicious smelling malty aroma. Again, the head was large at first but settled into a fine layer across the entire body of the beer. Taste is a wonderful mix of malt up front, hops in the middle and end, and a bit of sourness at the very end. Yummy! This one definitely changes my perception about the style. A real winner!

Tap @Barley Mow, Bristol. Small white head, amber colour, clear. Aroma: roaste malts, toffee, bit of berries. Lightly bitter with lightly sweet aftertaste. Medium body, average carbonation, quite smooth, nice.

DATE: October 14, 2017... OCCASION: soccer Saturday in the books, yard work finished... time to officially welcome in fall... GLASSWARE: Orioles mug... pours a solid amber orange body with large, clumpy bubbles that rush hastily upward... the off-white head thins to an dirty, uneven snow cap... the aroma is a mellow, slightly roasted malt with equally soft, sweet caramel... the Hallertau is not too prominent in the mix either, leaving the overall experience insinuating a drinkable, accessible lager... first sip is fresh, medium-bodied, sweet and swift... at 5.8% ABV, not at all thin nor aggressive--a prefect companion for various fare... the throat senses a lingering toasted caramel, sharp and rewarding... besides the aforementioned caramel and sharp ping of hops, light honey, lemon grass, and dank, earthy malts make for a more complex sip than expected... among the giants of marzens, this one holds its own, with a balance and flavor that invites sip after sip while sneakily bringing its alcohol upon you... somewhere in the mix to be crowned the first in fest, but not sure it meets the heights of some more aggressive or interesting marzens...

Bottle from Speciaalbierpakket. Aroma is smooth bready malt, caramel, dark bread, soft nutty notes and a hint of bittering hops. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet and light bitter. Body is medium. A pretty smooth and balanced Märzen, good example of the style.

From a bottle bought over from Germany by a friend. Didn't know what to expect from this as I understand it's a seasonal beer. Pours a rich ruby colour with a roasted malt aroma which to be honest, isn't very nice. Medium carbonation. The aroma doesn't do justice to the flavour. It's superb, rich with roasted malt and caramel overtones. Really good and despite the reasonably high ABV it's not syrupy at all. Really impressed with this and gets a big thumbs up from me!
