Schlumpfhunter (205) - Bavaria, GERMANY - SEP 22, 2015
Schaum: gar keiner! Hm Glas gewechselt: kurz aufgeschäumt dann wieder nix. Weniger mein Favorit.

[bottle from Heidelberg] Tropical fruit candy aroma in front of light Pilsner malt. Hazy gold under a persistent, lacy, rocky, white meringue. Flavour is sweet Pilsner malt quickly followed by pineapple and lime-passion fruit with a low bitterness and a sweet finish. Medium body, medium high carbonation, midway between crisp and smooth.

Salwal (486) - GERMANY - SEP 20, 2015
From the bottle, pours hazy orange with thick white head. Nose of citrus and citric dish soap. Floral but not to fruity. Taste is astringent hops in the foreground mainly citric and grassy. Some lacing and good hoppy finish. Qiute decent ipa...

Many thanks for this beer to kevnic2008. Piwo ze srednia pianka ale dosc trwala. Kolor zloto pomaranczowy, metny. Zapach cytrusowy, zwlaszcza cytryny i limonki. W smaku cytrusy ale dodatkowo wyczulem ananasawa slodycz i kwaskowy miazsz kimi. Poteznie goryczkowe ze slodowoscia umiarkowana. Bardzo smaczne i wytrawne piwo. Choc zakonczenie mialo delikatne nie przyciezkawe to wyczuwalo sie dlugo goryczkowa budowe tego piwa. Polecam

UPDATED: JUN 1, 2017 33cl bottles, several batches sampled from its introduction to batch bb12/2015. This early-adopted German IPA was once a gateway beer to exotic floral goodness coming from an unassuming Kellerbier-derived style, succesfully pairing earthy Hallertaus with sprinkles of citrus-forward US hops. (Not sure when more mellow Nelson Sauvin was introduced to the recipe...). The aroma is still lovely, whereas comparing it now with ubiquitous European IPAs from Portugal to Slovakia, the thin and fizzy pilsner/crystal body is what first marks its age. The focused monopurpose Citra Ale does a better job of imparting pillowy, sweet ale qualities than this fair enough vehicle for mixed dryhopping on a rather simplistic Germanic malt base. // Rerate 2017-V: fresh batches, still old amateurish labels, sameish recipe, from a 0711 REWE. - At €1,39, the honest entry-level APA (masking as IPA) to beat, offering a fresh dose of US-hoppiness and citrus bitters on a simple, sessionable malt base. Clean, to the point, 50% German hopped - something of an early adopter DE-IPA, still standing strong. Marking this up for affordability at a point where all DE-homebrew is entry-marketed at €2,90 nowadays.

Maker: Häffner Bräu, Bad Rappenau, Germany *** Beer: Hopfenstopfer Incredible Pale Ale (bottled, unfiltered, 330ml) *** Style: India Pale Ale (IPA) *** ALC.VOL.: 6.1% *** "The Final Edition of our IPA. Hops are: Hallertauer Taurus, Hallertauer Saphir, Nelson Sauvin and Cascade. Beware, you may become a addicted to this stuff!" [brewery note] *** Colour: Bright yellow golden, slightly hazy; medium, creamy white head. *** Nose: Modest aroma of tangerines, roses, grass. *** Texture: Medium to full body, a bit oily. Mild carbonation. *** Taste: Grain, some nondescript citrus notes, herbs, pinewood, yeast at the start. Not very fruity. Floral notes in the middle, along with grain and mild herbs, milder pinewood. A wee bit resinous. Finish is more lemony than before, with mild hoppy bitterness, some perfume, Lasting aftertaste of floral hops, a hint of lemon, yeast. *** Impressions: Wee heavy IPA with muted fruit notes, grain and perfume are dominant. Non-mainstream. Noit bad, and certainly different.
