Clear bottle with skunky aroma. Pours with a fluffy white head which lasts. Big streaming carbonation. Initial taste is a corn flavor with a bit of apple cider. Not entirely awful but fairly close. DuffMan (10428) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - JUN 25, 2005
Pale golden, clear, medium head. I wouldn’t go so far as calling this "foul", but it is pretty boring. Sweet malt is really all you get for flavour (the same as all corn-adjunct, over-processed pale lagers on the market). I wouldn’t choose to drink it again if an alternative were available, but I wouldn’t turn it down if the beerfridge was empty on a Friday night. This is my standard review for all "two-star-or-less" piss. johninmelb (1127) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - SEP 9, 2002
There’s a reason this is the cheapest of the aussie 4.9% posse. homersimpsin (40) - South Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - NOV 6, 2006
I had this at a party once, i didn’t really like it, i kept pulling a "whiskey face" after each swig i took. I would only drink this if it was a really hot day and it was free. Are they still making this? LoveABeer (141) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - JUL 25, 2002
Very ordinary tasting, but perhaps the price is the only good thing about it, if you were a student or on the dole.
OlJuntan64 (1265) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - SEP 17, 2002
Pale amber clear under a smallish moderate lasting white head and some cobweb frothy lacing. Sweetish malt and faint bitter hops aroma. Light watery body with boring to bland palate. Soft bitter and less sweet with hint of wheat beer sour flavours. Faint bitter finish and after taste. Bribieboy (11) - Bribie Island Queensland, AUSTRALIA - MAR 29, 2008
This beer was introduced as a 5.2 % ABV beer in around 1993 and was an excellent drop, brought out as competition to Carlton Cold Filtered beer. At the time it was criticised for its alcoholic volume and accused of encouraging binge drinking in the youth market (in the days before alcopops)
For whatever reason it was denatured first to 4.2 and then 4.0 at the beginning of the Century and is now just a tasteless boring mid strength beer. I doubt if much of it is sold anymore. Catadobe (112) - AUSTRALIA - DEC 9, 2002
Um, how do you describe something so tastless and nasty KBeer (117) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 30, 2003
I wouldn't have had this one if my roomie didn't give me a stubby of it one night. I can't think of much else to say - totally unspectacular. IslandHaole (1268) - Misawa, JAPAN - JAN 31, 2003
Looks like beer, almost smells like it too. Terribly fizzy. I don't know if it's the residual effects of my cold but, I can't taste anything here. This must be the Down Under version of Bud Ice. At least it's not offensive as is Tooheys Blue. For Aussie beers, stick with Coopers or Southwark.
