On tap at HOTD. Pours a dark murky brown color with almost no head. A big boozy nose, bourbon, sugary. The base of a Belgian sugary massive beer is strong, and the vanilla, bourbon content is equally big. Chocolates, vanilla, sugary malty base. This works really well. Excellent beer. Draft at HOTD, aged in bourbon barrels. Dark brown pour with thin layer of large bubbles on the surface. Aroma: Chocolate. Lots of chocolate. So much chocolate. Taste: Smooth. Vanilla, whiskey, plenty of sweetness. Dark fruit / raisins in the mix. Lasting chocolate. And booze. Well placed but boozy for sure. Full body, silky texture. Pretty much flat. Overall: lovely. A: Cloudy brown with no head. Lacing.
N: Bourbon, toffee, cocoa, caramel, vanilla, brown sugar, oak.
T: Very sweet. No bitterness.
M: Medium body, slick, alcohol is hidden, light carbonation.

Past notes. On tap at hotd. Colour...cloudy dark brown with no head. Nose...ultra fruity, especially dark fruits with hints of vinegar. Palate...unctuous, sweet and brooding with earthy plum and cassis syrup. There’s gobs of brooks prunes, dates and Zante currants with oaky goodness and some dark toffee to boot. The finish is long and don pedro Jimenez-esque.

On tap at Brouwer’s Big Wood 2012. This was the hit of the festival. Pours deep, dark brown, with a tiny head. Like a blend of Adam and Pannepot -- this takes a Belgian quad and adds depth, complexity, and an American flair. Super full-body, thick and rich. Dark fruit, oak, smoke, leather, vanilla, molasses -- hoo boy, this is delicious. Covers its 12% beautifully. On draft at Brouwers. Cloudy dark amber with small beige head. Low carb, med to big mouthfeel. Nose is dark fruits, cocoa, toffee, a little spice, and vinous notes. The barrel aging is very evident. Lacks the yeasty characteristics of a normal Struise Pannepot. I’d assume it uses whatever yeast HOTD usually uses. delicious for sure.love this stuff

On tap at Bailey’s Taproom, pours a beautiful dark mahogany with some beige bubbles. Aroma of raisins, prunes, cinnamon, chocolate and a little liqueur. Flavour is extremely rich and complex, with loads of dark fruits (prunes, raisins), cinnamon, chocolate liqueur and brown sugar. ABV is a bit noticeable but not detracting. Tap @ Hair of the Dog... Poured deep reddish, burgundy-brown with a thin head. Nose had dark cherry, dark fruits, and some vinous characters. Rich and dense mouthfeel. Some booziness and lots of sweetness. Brown sugar sweetness, vanilla, worty malt, bread-like grains, and baking spices. Strong yeast esters with prunes, cherries, grapes, and raisin notes. This very rich, complex and sweet quad is absolutely stellar. It's one of the best quads I have ever had. Hints of molasses, dark rich sugars, raisins and a hint of chocolate make this beer highly drinkable.
