UPDATED: FEB 15, 2012 Super dark brown pour, cream head. Rich but delicate aroma of brown sugar, celery seed, light wood notes. Flavor is awesome. Creamy, sweet, brown sugar, cane syrup. Awesome. WeeHeavySD (3387) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUL 2, 2007
UPDATED: FEB 15, 2008 Beer 13 of Bartzilla’s Death Metal Beer Tasting 6/30/07. Shared with Bartzilla, Naven, BikesandBeer and others. Via trade with Batkins. Bartzilla said it pretty damn well this is a fucking crazy beer. 1.5L bottle after a really sour batch 58 of regular Adam. Pours dark brown witha bubbly head. Aroma is sweet and strong. The taste is amazing and hard to describe. Bryan PH Pinhead said it "tastes like a tootsie roll soaked in Kahlua." This was so so so amazingly good, and really tastes stronger than 10% a big sipper and fucking great to share. 77ships (10432) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - APR 21, 2012
UPDATED: FEB 10, 2013 33 cl. bottle split with Belgbeergeek @ home (a 2011 bottle): dark brown with a tiny, almost non-existing head that sticks to the side of the glass, smell absolutely awesome, sweet molasses, bourbon, dark fruits, syrup, dark sugar, small hint of booze in a good way, taste follows suit, sweet molasses, booze, bourbon, raisins, maple syrup, sirop de Liège,… body is creamy & syrupy, low carb. in an awesome way //// Tried this one again thx. to Kraddel - tasted blind - this is still utterly pehnomal, different than I remember but still one of the best beers around dionysus (1486) - Portland, Oregon, USA - FEB 25, 2012
Huge thanks to daknole! Bottle pours deep brown with a thin khaki head. Aroma is amazing and filled with tons of malt depth which is nicely complimented by the barrel treatment. Typical caramel, graham cracker notes are enhanced by tobacco, leather, milk chocolate, oak, and bourbon. Flavor is just as intense with added layers of dates, marshmallow, golden raisin, and maple. Overall body is moderate to full, creamy and finishes with a good dose of boozy warmth. Simply amazing. ryanfolty (2584) - Bourbon County, Minnesota, USA - AUG 15, 2013
August 9, 2013 - 2011 bottle purchased at the brewery. Dark brown pour with limited head. Aroma and taste were bourbon, chocolate, wood, smoke and vanilla. Just an amazing beer that is one of the best I have tried to this point.

Bottle, 2011 - thanks Alen! Pours dark opaque brown with a small tan head that dissipates quickly with some lacing. Aroma is full and rich with roasted malts, raisin, chocolate, molasses, and bourbon, of course. Flavor is the same, medium sweet with roasted malts, raisins, a bit of chocolate and a wonderfully strong, but not overpowering, bourbon presence. Rich and creamy in the mouth, a bit hot, but perhaps not as much as Adam itself. Wow is this beer good! collinthib (8) - Salem, Oregon, USA - NOV 2, 2013 does not count
Amazing beer. Aroma has notes of chocolate, petey smoke, and leather. This is the closest scotch smell I have ever smelled from a beer. Palate is sweet but not cloyingly so; smokey flavor really comes through. Smooth and just a finish of bitterness makes this beer amazing. wetherel (1888) - Cupertino, California, USA - AUG 3, 2008
Tasted from bottle at RBSG. FINALLY! I’ve seen this empty bottle at WeeHeavySD’s place several times, and ogled the raves and reviews in the ratings. I love these sweet HotD barleywines. Wow. Through the roof smokey oaky aroma. HotD rocks the aroma. Sweet and delicious. Brown color. Lowish carbonation. hapjydeuce (1001) - Carlsbad, California, USA - AUG 14, 2008
RBSG ’08. Derek (DA) graciously opened this 1.5L beast for the Ratebeer Grand Tasting at Pizza Port Carlsbad. Thank you so much for this! I’ve wanted to try this elusive rarity for so long. The beer’s age is apparent, with a very still and slick pour that coats the snifter. Burgundy color, like brandy. Low carbonation, just a few beige bubbles on the surface. Nose is absolutely killer. Smacked with oak wood, musty cellar, bourbon and molasses; all of this wrapped up in caramel and brown sugar. Smooth and mellow profile; elegant flavors of toffee, leather and caramel, with more wood and a bit of a tobacco tone. Warming bourbon palate with a lasting barrel flavor. Medium bodied. I just love these big, saucy barrel-aged types. Wow! Beerman6686 (6607) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 29, 2012
Wow, this was one amazing freaking beer. POured a medium to dark red/brown with a minimal light tan head. Aroma was lots of dark fruits, some chcolate, light smoke, wood and bourbon. Flavor was much the same, only more pronounced, starts out with dark cherries and plums, definitely some port character, followed by sweeter chocolate, and the smokey bourbon notesa. Just outstanding all the way around. Regular Adam is already really complex, and this added the perfect subtlties to it.
