On tap at Hair of the Dog, pours an opaque dark mahogany with a medium beige head. Aroma of Belgian yeast, considerable spicy notes and some leather. Flavour is quite tart, bringing out loads of oak barrels, some vinous notes, a little leather, and sour plums. Very vinous, woody from the oak and perfectly tart. On tap at HotD.A: Murky orange color with a thin lacing. Sits on the glass.N: Lots of wood and earth in the nose. Pine and some cherry. Some slight vinegar and acetone.T: Loads of pine and cedar. Oak and an aggressive bitterness. Some rosemary here too. Slightly sour and a moderate sweetness.

On tap at Brouwer’s Sour Fest 2013. Not quite sure how this gets labeled "Belgian" -- the yeast, maybe? Pours a super-murky amber (very HotD). Lots of residual sugar in here -- also very HotD -- some caramel and mild peach/apricot underneath. Not a lot of tartness here at all -- the nice delicate notes you’d expect in a brew like this are completely smothered by residual sugar. UPDATED: MAY 16, 2013 Tap @ Hair of the Dog... Named in honor of my beer geek friend/trade partner Vincent (BelgBeerGeek on Ratebeer). Poured copper burnt orange with a white head. Nose had wood, light fruits, and classic HotD yeast characters. This is a mix cultured yeast fermented beer, but man, the quintessential HotD flavor is still in here. Light body, a little drying. With some acidity but not quite tart. Citrus, light fruits, oak, and mild malt/bread-like tones. Nice yeasty spice finish. The lighter abv and mouthfeel really helps this beer.
