UPDATED: SEP 14, 2017 On draft at the brewery! Aroma 9/10: hops hops hops! Dank, piney, beautiful hops Appearance 4 /5: opaque orange with slightly frothy and sticky head Palate 4 /5: moderate to heavy carbonation, not particularly sticky or thin - the perfect mouthfeel for an ipa Taste 9/10:,very hop forward - starts of incredibly bitter, but you get a lot of dank and grassy complexity. Finishes off a tad citrusy to round it out. Overall 19/20: I'm forcing the SO to sit here and wait for me to rate this beer because I love it so much. Does that say enough? Final: 4.5

At the source: pours deep golden with white head. Aroma is citrus pine and nuggets. Taste is bitter but not too much so. Old school but not too malty or sweet. Easy to drink and pretty good. Definite rye notes in there.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a hazed apricot amber with a thin white head. Soft citrus on the nose, a bit of musk, citrus, toast, malt. Dank weed on the nose, papaya, malt. Medium bodied, big spicy malt, toast, warm melon and spongy tropical fruit. Malt, a bit of citrus, toast, malt. Slow malt into the finish, a bit of grapefruit, toast, malt. Sticky and sweet, but the caramel fades to a low quality grapefruit bitterness.

From tap at Hair of The Dog, Portland. Aroma is juicy fruity hops, sweetish slowly riping fruits, pine resin, soft malt, grapefruit, citrussy with orange. Flavour is moderate sweet with a bitter finish. Body is medium. Wow, such a smooth and balanced IIPA, lovely example of the style.

Thanks Frank! Bottle to tulip. The appearance was a golden sunshine yellow color with a two finger’s worth of white foamy head. Seemed to really take it’s time in dissipating, I didn’t mind. Some heavy lace ran here and there. The aroma spoke of some sweet to soft spicy rye, light floral hop tones, some herbal, light citrus, a touch of resin, light passion fruit and ended with some sweet fresh grassy tones. The flavor came between the sweet to spicy portions and then subtly allowing the passion fruit to make a light presence. Not much of an aftertaste, seemed somewhat fresh piney to that passion fruit with a cohesive piney to grassy and passion fruit sweet sort of finish. The palate was about medium bodied with a good sipping quality about it. Carbonation felt spot on. ABV felt as projected. Bitterness was there yet contained enough to not impart much hop abrasion. Overall, well, damn! I totally understand the hype train behind this one. I’m jumping on!
