Pours purple with a pink head. The aroma has rich cherries and rich malt. It has a smooth medium body with very light carbonation. The taste has lots of cherries. You can tell there is rich malt on the back, but very cherry forward. luttonm (6972) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JUN 13, 2016
Hair of the Dog, Portland. Dark, red-tinged brown. Small bubbly bright white head. huge spiced cider body, sweet smooth sip. Gets hugely metallic, licking a battery sensation. Coppery metal, watery finish. Not a lot of cherry. Touch dry cough syrup. Quite odd. I feel like I don’t get it. sherm1016 (1274) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - APR 26, 2016
Taster at the brewpub. Pours a deep cherry red with a thin white head and some lacing. Aroma is light cherry. Medium on the palate with soft carbonation. Flavor is sweet, cherry, some mineral, some bread. neepsntatties (2076) - Portland, Oregon, USA - APR 24, 2016
On tap at HOTD. Colour...reminiscent of Welch’s grape juice, with a thin white head. Nose...very cherry with some wisps of yeast, Concord grape skins and cherry boiled sweets. Palate...light, fluffy and teeming with crushed cherry and light cherry syrup. There’s a spritely bit of effervescence in the mid palate and earthy minerality on the quick finish. Taster pour on tap at the brewery pub (Portnald, OR). Pours a deeper dark carmelized copper hue with a tinge of cherryskin glow, darker reddish purple appeal in a hazy body. Darker with subtle brownish red carmelized glow on the edges and bottom. Frothy offwhite reddish tinged layer of head atop stays creamy, medium sized with good thicker ring lacing and retention. Aromas show carmelized and biscuity, jabs of caramel and subtle brown sugar meet juicy tart cherries, a bit of tart cherryskin, more biscuit and toast. Darker yet not sweet or overwhelming, the cherries add a really nice complexity and flow on the nose. Initial is medium bodied, a nice bitter tart cherry appeal livens up the joint. Sweeter caramel and biscuity malts beneath, faint cinnamon and brown sugar meet gentle fruity appeal. A bit dry, fuzzy and tart cherry influenced backend lightens it up a bit as a nice pitty tart trail out develops. Really nice stuff, eschewing a firmer body as the cherries do some lovely work throughout from the nose, pour, and flow over the palate. Tart, carmelized and biscuity trail out. Great stuff overall. A simple improvement that works wonders overall here. Lovely.

Draft pour at Hair of the Dog. Deep burgundy without much of a head. Aroma to me smells like cherry grape juice. Mild cherry up front with a malty, flat finish. Not as sweet or as strong of a cherry flavor as I expected. Lacking in complexity, but not horrible. andrewje41 (4532) - Kenmore, Washington, USA - DEC 27, 2015
Draft pour at the brewery. Dark chocolate brown pour with no head. Malt heavy flavor with a sweet berry aroma. Has an interesting fruit bill late, that has a fresh feel to it. Soft spice. Bold flavor with a modest sweetness. Not the most interesting of their beers, but overall a good beer. boFNjackson (4230) - Portland, Oregon, USA - DEC 18, 2015
Tap @ Hair of the Dog... Poured deep ruby with an off-white, slightly pink head. Nice lacing. Nose had candied cherry notes. Light mouthfeel, mild mineral notes with prominent cherry flavor. Low bitterness, easy drinking. Surprisingly, and in a great way, not very sweet even with all the cherry characters. Ferris (17107) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 23, 2015
Draft - Had this with mcberko and rating was deleted by a zealous admin. Can’t find original so just copying his: Pours an opaque dark red with a tiny white head. Nose brings out the spicy lager yeast upfront, not much of the cherries. Flavour reveals more of the cherries, though they are muted, with lager yeast and a little spiciness. Not very complex, lacking complexity. Flat palate that doesn’t help. Not very convincing. mcberko (19869) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 20, 2015
