Doggie Claws has a deep copper color and an intense hop character. I use Simcoe and Amarillo hops along with Organic Pilsner malt, British crystal and dark wild flower honey collected on Mt. Hood. The beer is ready to drink now but will improve with age. Happy Holidays from the curs at Hair of the Dog. - Alan Sprints, Brewmaster

Enjoyed from a 12oz bottle in a chalice. The beer pours a medium to slightly dark amber color, with a moderate white head that lessens, but still remains for essentially the duration of the samples consumption. The nose shows strong English medium-high and high crystal malt; brown sugar, raison, and candied prune. As the sample appears to have some age on it, hop notes have fallen away. The palate is full, in-your-face, and unmistakably that of a Barley Wine-style ale. Raison, slight sherry notes, caramel, molasses, and a slight tinge of character-adding alcohol come through. Residual sweetness levels are high, coming quite close to being cloying. Carbonation is nicely calibrated. Mouthfeel is full, without being inappropriately filling. The general flavor profile of the sample is not unlike a tawny port. The finish is long, sweet, and full of English crystal malt character. Overall, an example of the style that is pleasant, but highly aggressive, and close to being unbalanced. Enjoyable.

Cask days 2016. Dark brown pour, Cloudy, with a big light brown head. Super sticky lacing, and sticky sweet Aroma. Lots of toffee, and caramel, with huge pine resin notes. Nutty, roasty, hints of coffee, boozy bread. Silky and viscous mouth feel, soft carb. Very high bitterness with huge pine resin finish. This is a big beer.

Bottle from share on 11/12. Hazy brown pour with small tight beige head. Very malty all the way through, in both aroma and taste. Notes of caramel and a bit of hops finish this one off.

Bottle, thanks Greg. It poured a cloudy deep amber color with a white head. The aroma was of honey, molasses, raisins, toffee, caramel and hops. The taste was similar to the aroma with more toffee, raisins, bananas, molasses and honey. Really good.
