Wow!! Deep black with virtually no carbonation. The smell is deep roastiness with some alcohol. The flavor is overwhelmingly of burnt bitterness, textured with a healthy alcohol warmth. An excellent beer -- sadly, one that I’ll probably never get the opportunity to taste again. daknole (11049) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - APR 30, 2013
Nice dark pour with no real head. Flavor is aweome. Sean9689 mentioned that this was the best bottle he had ever tried, and it was really good. Sweet, tobacco, port, leather, hints of dark fruit. TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - MAR 13, 2013
Sampled at the CCB/RateBeer/Pre-Hunah Tasting (Tampa, FL). Pours a nice deep black pour, coal with good haziness, dark and opaque. Frothy brownish head atop laces ok as a thicker ring. Aromas are cocoa, toffee, and a bit roasty. Chocolate, some roast, mellow growing earthy hop bitterness. Initial is roasty, dry and bitter, some pretzel, cocoa, and more toast and roast as we press on. Toasty, dry. Middle is cocoa, dark black malts, and toffee. Still firmly dry, roasty, and cocoa. nice bigger flavors, backend is dry, toasty, rich coffee and dry bakers chocolate. Finish is dry, a bit bitter and cocoa laden, shavings, gentle dark fruit. Solid fun beer. CapFlu (5127) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 20, 2006
(Bottle) Sampled at the post-GCBF party hosted by Oakes, "Big Beer Sampling". Fig juice, bourbon. High ABV detected. Bandaids, christmas pudding. Thin, deep, pure, alcoholic. Hardly flavourful - pure alcohol. Fig concentrate. Bitter finish with traces of molasses... Thorpe429 (5035) - , Illinois, USA - APR 7, 2013
Served in a Hair of the Dog stemmed taster. Nose is similar to Dave but without being as heavy on the smoke. Blackberry jam, booze, tobacco, and mild spice notes. Bit of booze.

I feel privileged to have had half a bottle. The description puts it in between Adam and Dave yet I like it less than both. It has a flavour that makes me think that when I grow up I may be able to develop a taste for it. Tastes like leather and very dry beef jerky. Very dark brown with tiny particulate. No head. Beef jerky and smoke aroma. Hints of molasses. Aggressive black smoke, soy sauce and beef jerky flavour. Not for the timid. Second sip the ABV comes through trying to thin the strong flavour. Doesn’t just bruise the palate, it attacks everything. ABV gets stronger and stronger. tkrjukoff (4335) - SWEDEN - MAR 10, 2013
Bottle. Pours dark brown with a small brown head. Aroma is fruity malty raisins fidges dark fruits. Flavor is fullbodied peppery fruity raisiny malty slightly roasted velvety smooth and a bit bitter. Very well kept, excellent. MrChopin (4304) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - MAY 20, 2012
Forgot I had this with Jeremy and Chris. Still plum body. Soft cardboard elements hint at severity of oxidation, behind which hides some chocolate, soy, and a bit of paper. Thin oily body, short bitter finish. Drank against ten vintages of Adam ranging 1-8 years of age, and none of complexity of those remains in Eve. Feel bad ticking such an old beer this low, especially when Adam is consistently 4.4+. This rating is intended as a cold bucket of water for all the Captain Ahabs out there still hoping the hunt is worthwhile. Crit (3995) - Surrey, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 12, 2002
No head. No visible carbonation. Thick and syrupy. Cloying malt taste with terribly harsh alcohol heat. Contrary to everyone elses opinion, I wouldn’t waste my time again. If I want this harsh alcohol taste , I’ll drink Scotch, not beer Huhzubendah (3705) - Washington DC, USA - APR 5, 2013
Thanks to Richard for the share. Paired with Hair of the Dog Dave.
The beer appears virtually still and is dark brown in color. The aroma brings molasses, a touch of soy sauce, though certainly not off putting. Additional notes of leather, maple. The flavor brings more spice than the aroma indicated. A bit of pepper with moderate booze. Void of carbonation and really smooth in the palate. A once in a lifetime experience and certainly an enjoyable experience pairing this with Dave.
