25cl from tap at BeerTemple, Amsterdam. Appearance: slightly hazy brown with medium, off-white head. Aroma: raisins, apple, peach, caramel. Taste: high sweetness and high bitterness. Notes of caramel, peach, raisins and some red apple. Finish is dry and bitter. Palate: medium bodied, sticky texture and medium carbonation. Maybe a bit to bitter for a barley wine.

Darught @ Beer Temple (leftovers from Borefts?). Had this before bottled, early 2000's. Murky amber color. Forthy off white head. Aroma's: sweetish, red fruit, alcohol, acetone. Retronasal the alcohol and acetone are more pronounced (unfortunately), with some sweetness and fruit. Flavor is moderate sweet, fruity, light acetone. Full bodied. Long finish. The acetone/strong alcohol aroma's deminish a bit after a while, fortunately.

Bought @ Drankhalle DeConick.
Rather brutal Barleywine. Smels very malty, still a lot of hop in the nose. Taste is straightforward, I expected more complexity. A tad too bitter. Nevertheless a very well made beer.

Nice sticky and heavy loaded with malts. Despite the ABV is well drinkable and head is this and stays for a long time. The bitterness is quite high. Nice as baseline brew.

Bottle from Kenny's deep cellar - cheers! Consumed at L42. It pours hazy deep orange - brown with a small beige head. The aroma is soft, sweet, slick, oily, toasty grains, bit of umami, jammy fruits, toffee and cake. The taste is soft, bitter - sweet, oily, toffee, toasted nut, earthy, woody, touch of spice, stewed, tangy marmalade, sticky fruits and some alcohol warmth. Medium - full body and fine carbonation. Too sweet for my tastes, but I can see why others would like it.

UPDATED: NOV 16, 2017

September 2017 - Keg at Beavertown Extravaganza. As 'Hair of the Dog Fred'. One of the big wants of the fest, and was a little disappointed. Pours an amber orange, translucent, foamy off-white head leaves light lacing. Aroma is banana peel, apple, oaky, astringent-seeming, a bit harsh. Body is smooth with soft carbonation. Taste is boozy, spiced browned apple flesh, spicy, again a little harsh. (5-4-5-4-13=3.1)

November 2017 - Bottle share at One Canada Square. Big thanks to Kenny. This is 10%. Orange-brown, translucent, dense foamy off-white head leaves full lacing. Aroma has some orange zest and popcorn. Body is frothy with tingly carbonation. Taste is again toffee, slight orange notes, touch of papery oxidation. Slightly preferred the bottle version to keg, but neither really wowed.
