I have to give this beer a perfect rating. It's like Thomas Hardy meets Bigfoot is the only way to describe this beautiful brew. Shadallion (534) - Sacramento, California, USA - MAR 22, 2001
Smooth and drinkable like an English barleywine, but complex and hoppy like an American. Attractive cloudy appearance and the alcohol is nicely concealed by the flavors. A great beer, from a spectacular brewery. weeicemon (126) - Lancaster, California, USA - MAR 6, 2001
Rich, cidery aroma.Cloudy, reddish tan. Initially thick with a slightly bitter maltiness. Almost dessert like as it warms your palatte.Gotta like the alcohol content. shorlin (736) - St. John’s, Newfoundland, CANADA - OCT 3, 2000
Thought it was a little strong at first. It got better as I drank it. Oakes (19013) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 30, 2000
The last swallow was perfection. Sweet undertaste.
Potent little beer, though.
UPDATED: JUN 26, 2004 Aromatic, smooth barley wine, with signature HOTD flowery notes, a rich malty base, and a lively disposition. Age it and it gets heavier, perhaps a little too heavy in its maltiness. A rare barley wine to be consumed fresh.
