On tap at the brewery pours out copper amber topped with a small ring of a head. Nose is sweet maple bourbon barrel vanilla toffee and a nice mellow hop. Tatse is more of the nice sweet malts caramel maple vanilla very nice. pushkinwow (3006) - Ottawa, CANADA - DEC 23, 2013
On tap for the 20th birthday party. Hazy amber with pretty much no head. Reminds me of a boozy maple sugar sap, unbelievably sweet, caramelized brown sugar and figs, mild carbonation and just a sweet body. Not my thing. daknole (11050) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - NOV 24, 2013
Hazed brown color, small head. Sweet jesus this is sweet. Lol. Maple, brown sugar, molasses, sweet sugary finish. Very good but I couldn’t drink much. douglas88 (9973) - Portland, Oregon, USA - NOV 10, 2013
On tap at the 20th Anniversary event. Cheers! Pours a cloudy beige color with almost no head. A light boozy nose, big maple. The flavor is similarly dominated by sweet sugary barrel and maple, some heat, toffee, figs and caramel. Travlr (27320) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - NOV 10, 2013

Tap taster at brewery. Cloudy rusted copper. Aroma of tree bark and raisin. Taste is candied sugar, dark fruit, and a brilliant late-coming burst of pure maple. GothGargoyle (2587) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 9, 2013
On tap at Hair of the Dog anniversary party. Hazy light brown with a small pale head. Aroma is maple, raisins, dates, honey. Full bodied, syrupy mouthfeel, sweet on huge palate with a cloying aftertaste. Taste is raisins, maple syrup, dates, honey. Sweet but delicious Sarlacc83 (2527) - Portland, Oregon, USA - AUG 10, 2012
On tap at the tasting room. Only barrel created. Pity.
A: Opaque orange tinted brown. Or brown tinted orange. Very thin lacing. A bit muddy, but..meh.
N. Sugar. Belgian candi sugar and maple, specifically. Some hop bitterness/pineapple and mango. The bourbon’s less developed in the nose than in the body.
T: No mistaking the barrels on this one. Maple syrup, vanilla, caramel. Some very noticeable tropical fruits. Lots of pineapple. This is pretty sweet, but not as much as I remember. The back has the hop bitterness to even this out. There’s definitely an alcohol kick.
M: Bubbly and sticky sap. This fits really well with the beer and the maple. Like bourbon Fred 2012 this one nails it.
O: Excellent. When I hear people rave about CBS, I assume this is what they really think they had. Freakout (17) - Alaska, USA - AUG 3, 2012
Wonderful warm maple whisky nose...lovely worn saddle leather appearance. As described before the taste is a maple bar soaked in good Bourbon. Just a pleasure to drink and a true nipple rubber. neepsntatties (2110) - Portland, Oregon, USA - AUG 3, 2012
On tap at HOTD. Colour...deep, cloudy amber with no head. Nose...dates, caramel and maple soaked raisins. Palate...almost imperceptible CO2 then the flavours kick in with subtle Bourbon, booze soaked dark fruits with a focus on raisins, black currants and Medjool dates. Overall there’s a smooth, velvety mouthfeel that resounds with maple sweetness front the front to the back of the palate. Throughout the whole experience, th Bourbon remains subtle though not elusive. This is a delight for the palate!
