Murky dark brown color with no head whatsoever. Aroma is of oak, cocoa, toast and it also has a meatiness to it. Sweet caramel and dark fruit also come through in the nose. Smokelike taste gives a bit of a bacon flavor and there’s also a suggestion of peated malt. Rich caramel and dark fruits are also present with a bit of barrel character. Full bodied with minimal carbonation, this certainly wouldn’t need much carbonation, but it could use more than it has. Still pretty nice and smooth on the tongue.
Smells of apples, carmel and smoke. Pours dark with no carbination. Amazing taste, real mouthfull.
Great strong/old ale.

Nose is sweet caramel, light marzipan, very light coffee and dark roast malts. Taste is sweet with a bitter finish. Flavors of burnt caramel, toffee, dark roast malts. Rich, slick mouthfeel. An dedicated, terrifying special release will finally be opened. Matt loudly announces to me how good it think it smells. Smoked acorns in a vat of dark caramel was instinctual. Let warm and burnt sugary, vanilla sugary, and aggressive woody goodness will invade your olfactory similar to how the boozy maltiness common in those freakish Bruery strong ales have come out. The magical rum raisin flavor only appeared when I started sniffing heavily at the liquid as if I were in the depths of a serious coke binge.
The maltiness of this strange and wonderful brew is a miasma of interesting and irreverent bellicosity. Matt cares not where you’re from, an intense donnybrook will be in your future with this unforgiving mammoth. If the burnt sugary aestheticism isn’t for you, give the bottle for the air to inspect for a few minutes before drinking again: boiled beets, graham bread, oak, and rum raisin ice cream can be seen leering in now. A well-meaning sugar bomb that probably was at its prime two years ago.
The palate-washing warmth is possibly the most impressively "scotch like" I’ve encountered in a beer all year. A single asthmatic exhalation of tobacco leafs, underripe figs, and maple sugar on its slowly lingering finish.
Thick, creamy almost, and complex: another unquestionable oak-bready beer with a noteworthy burn.
