Past notes. On tap at HOTD, fall of 2014. Colour...murky brownish red with a thin tan head. Nose...candi sugar, big hops and piney resin with crushed hop cones and kumquats. Palate...more effervescent than I expected, given the thin head, then more of the candi sugar and massive waves of hops. There’s tropical fruits at the mid palate and gobs of booziness even though the abv is not that high. The back palate still resounds with hops and then some dark cane fruits come along (wasn’t expecting that). The finish is long and sweet but somewhat dry. SinH4 (6403) - Garching b. Deep amber color with big fine-bubbly head. Aroma is malty, caramel, but piney hops as well. Taste is again caramely malts, toffee, honey, a bit coffee, and a nice bitterness that kicks in, then boozy. Good warming finish. Great mouthfeel. Fits my taste very much! jredmond (8770) - New York, New York, USA - DEC 14, 2014
Sampled at THE FESTIVAL 2014 in LA with Linh, Scarlett and GT. Pours a deep brown body with no head. Aroma is vanilla, malt, sweet apple and light alcohol character. Mouthfeel is medium with notes of sweet malt, vanilla, booze and apples. GT (10017) - San Diego, California, USA - NOV 10, 2014

>> Poured from pitcher from keg. Murky deep orange tea pour, weak foam. Nose is orange peel, vanilla, spices. Taste is super sweet, sugar, tea, tannic amber tea. Tannic, cloying, no thanks.
Pretty awesome beer. On tap at the Brewery. Pours a dark copper mahogany color with a large beige head. A big sweet Belgian nose, malty, some toffee. The flavor is sweet toast, fruit, berries, a bit of toffee and nutty malts. Quite nice. Great smooth palate.

UPDATED: OCT 12, 2014 Sampler at the brewery. Color is dark solid amber, cannot see though it. Good head retention. Flavor is not boozy, which is surprising for a HotD. Thick malt dominates, its unsweet dough with yeasty fruit notes and a bit of a generic bop bite. Smooth and thick on the cheeks with some felt carbonation. Nose is fruity and hoppier than flavor with a lighter feel. Finishes hop forward. Sarlacc83 (2404) - Portland, Oregon, USA - OCT 4, 2014
A: Brackish brown with a firm foamy off-white head.
N: Caramel, toffee, earth, pine, pineapple, leaves, hint of vanilla and peppercorn. Brown sugar and honey. Raisin.
T: Very sweet with a leavening bitterness to round it off.
M: Medium body, stickiness, alcohol is hidden.
O: A fine collaboration that has more oomph in the hops department. Sticky sweet goodness. mcberko (19222) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 21, 2014
On tap at Hair of the Dog, pours a hazy dark amber orange with a small beige head. Aroma is balanced between caramel malt and resinous hops. Flavour is much better balanced than the Rooie Dop version, with a balance between caramel and resinous hops. Sweet, but hoppy, leaving everything in proportion. Very good. pdx77 (1483) - Oregon, USA - AUG 20, 2014
On draught at Hair of the Dog Brewing. Deep amber golden color. Aroma is honey and caramel malts and bittersweet citrus. Taste is honey, grapefruit, caramel toffee, pine, light Belgian yeast, and a touch of bitter. Malty, hoppy, yeasty; like an IPA, a Belgian, and a big malty beer all in one. Somehow, it all works together.
