Rose is named for Portland, Oregon, the Rose City. Originally called Golden Rose, this Beer started life as a straight forward Belgian Tripel and evolved into a Beer made with beets, hibiscus flowers and pink peppercorns. She has always been inspired by the Belgian style known as Tripel, which has a low level hops and is deceivingly light in body for its alcohol strength. This is achieved through the use of imported Belgian candi sugar. Not Brewed since 2005.

Batch 35. More head then a Thailand Hooker with a 20$ bill. Wow this was a lively one. Sweet spices, cobweb yeastieness, and candi sugar that all trasfers over in the flavor with the addition of a herbal bitterness and peppery alcohol. Finishes spicey with a medium alcohol burn. Slightly perfumy and wonderfull laceing

Hazy rustic gold under a thin white foamy cap. Bright hibiscus and peppercorn aromas with a smoothbelgin biscuity malt base. Vibrant pale malty flavor that’s a little strong and slightly estery with pink peppercorns and a tasty Belgian herbal playfulness. Really neat and complex.

Draft in the tasting room. Hazy burnt orange with medium head and lace. Peach, cherry, tobacco, and teakwood aroma. Rather restrained malt sweetness and stonefruit, but also a healthy, balancing, clean bitter. Medium body and exceptionally satisfying finish especially for the size. A bit more complicated than a tripel ought to be, perhaps, but it works.

From Oct 2005 Bottle listed as Batch 32 Poured into glass with very little foam that disappeared completely after about a minute. The colour is really nice gold-copper and the smell, well, it kind of reminds me of the Sam Adams Triple Bock I had years ago. The taste is a bit of a quagmire...a few things going on but not in a harmonious way. There's a tartness present that I don't find that appealing and the alcohol taste is definitely there. Is this really in the trippel style?? Well....I can say that I've tried it.
