COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rose is named for Portland, Oregon, the Rose City. Originally called Golden Rose, this Beer started life as a straight forward Belgian Tripel and evolved into a Beer made with beets, hibiscus flowers and pink peppercorns. She has always been inspired by the Belgian style known as Tripel, which has a low level hops and is deceivingly light in body for its alcohol strength. This is achieved through the use of imported Belgian candi sugar. Not Brewed since 2005.

[Batch #35] A very enjoyable Belgian styled triple that pours with an very rich golden hue and a thick frothy white head. Head rises to about 1" before giving way to a mellow surface coat with reasonable lacing on the glass. Brew carries a moderate amount of sediment A little sharp on the taste and aroma but has a very enjoyable and very long aftertaste that carries its hoppy emphasis. The hints of honey malts come through, but dont get flattened like so many brews that try to blend out the offering with sugary malts. For once, this honey malt helps keep the harshness of the hops off their peak, but blend incredibly well under the bottle conditioned environment making for quite an enjoyable ale.

On tap at the brewery. Aroma of fresh cherry skin. Flavour is as you would expect - peppercorn and cherry. However, I found it a bit sweet and reminiscent of an American tripel at its core. Decent though.

On tap at Hair of the Dog, pours a cloudy reddish amber with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of saison yeast upfront, with subdued peppercorns and a touch of hibiscus. Flavour is very sweet, with lots of hibiscus upfront, followed by light spiciness, and followed by heaps of saison yeast that leave considerable fruity, floral esters. Inauthentic but certainly intriguing and drinkable. Nice one.

On tap at the brewery. Murky red/brown. Looks and drinks like a V8. Textured like tomato juice. Im not a fan of this. At all. Muddy and muddled.

Hazy orange colour, minimal off-white head; aroma of unripe peach, maybe pear, too, bready-wheaty notes and some acidic notes; taste is surprisingly sweet with although sourish notes and mild roastedness; very fruity, very biscuity, very strange...and very good

Pours hazy rosehip with a very low white head. Aromas of thyme, floral notes, spices. Taste is very weird with wheat and spice notes and some floral notes. Mouthfeel is fairly light bodied with medium carbonation.

On tap at HOTD. Colour...hazy gold with a thin head. Nose...very fruit and lithe with notes of peach, pear and apricot. Palate,..keen and bright with gobs of fruity goodness that give a big nod to the stone fruit industry. The whole of the palate is dry and tight with peach skin and pits and the finish is long and grippingz

A very nice floraly Tripel. Pours a bright orange with little head. Smells of roses and honey. Taste is bright, like a barleywine, with lots of floral notes, honey, lemon. Had on tap at the brewery. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
