Very dark with a thin head. Strong aroma and flavor, toasty caramel. It’s good, but something about it just doesn’t work right. Not sure TLNash886 (228) - Idaho, USA - MAR 22, 2010
2010 bomber. Pours deep, tobacco brown with a quickly dissipating khaki head; nice lacing. Very sweet aroma of plumb, figs, dates, purple grapes. Quite malty with a bit of brown sugar. Quite a good bit of fig and black grapes in the taste. It’s a good combination of a dark fruit and a candied fruit. Has a solid malty backbone, brown sugar, plumbs, yeast in the finish. Medium bodied with a fuzzy mouthfeel and a medium level of carbonation. This is a very, very, very sweet, fruity beer. Good, but the sweetness is a bit much. Deep brown, nice off white head. Aroma is caramel, toasty, yeast, sugar, lightly nuttiness. Taste is caramel, lightly roasty, chocolate, dried fruit, prunes. Rosebud butternuts (2396) - Denton, Texas, USA - JAN 24, 2010
bottle thanks to bhensonb. poured a dark rubyish brown with a beige head. aroma was lots of licorice, caramel, fig, and dark fruits. flavor was tons of licorice, figs, and raisin. body was heavy with medium carbonation. just to much licorice for me.

11th October 2008. GABF. Hazy brown beer. Rich banana and toffee flavours. Nice. Dry finish. SledgeJr (3577) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - JAN 16, 2010
On tap at the brewpub 2/14/9. Pours a dark reddish gold with a medium thick off white head. Has a slight bubble gum aroma. Strong sweetness, but a corn sweet, not a candy sweet, surprisingly. Finishes mildly tart. Medium palate. Only slightly reminiscent of a Belgian Dubbel. For a 25th celebration, this was a lackluster attempt. Crit (3973) - Surrey, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 6, 2010
Coke color, small tan head.Nose of malt and fruit. Winey start, dark fruits, sweet malt, lightly hoppy & spicy. Medium alcohol heat. Nice but unfortunately won’t be around for long 5000 (6862) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - JAN 3, 2010
Bottle:   Deep caramel, slight ruby hues, moderate frothy light beige head, spotty lacing.   Heavy bready nose, salted licorice, faint dark pitted fruit, figs, dates, etc.   Doesn’t seem very musty like Belgian
examples.   Does have some charred wood tho, maybe faint campfire.   Very bready on the tongue, soft fig/date, very soft.   A bit of lactose sweetness and charred wood/campfire.   This one, while not as Belgian as I
would have hoped, is actually not half bad.   I was expecting something a bit thinner, but as is its fairly hefty.   For what flavors exist, they are fairly strong.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate to full.   Finishes
with perhaps a very smidgen of anise.   Not quite Belgian, but fairly tasty nonetheless. AmEricanbrew (6878) - Same Trailer, Different Park, Louisiana, USA - NOV 19, 2009
