3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Yeasty, fruity, dried plum and raisin aroma. Mahogany color. A little sweet and fairly clean finish. The hops are only in the finish detectable. Very drinkable, yet complex. For the price, a very decent double. All the expected components of a great double are in place.
Dark brown with very red clarity when held to the light... 1" head with pretty descent lacing.
Aroma is plummy esters and a little bit of dried cherries.. some caramel .. and a little bit of spice... not as complex as many of it’s European brothers... still not bad.
Flavor is better but sorta drops off fairly quick for such a complex style. Malty but finishes fairly dry with a short lived clove spicy note. Body is on the lighter side for the style... carbonation is subtle small bubbles.. sorta creamy feel. Rodriguez (364) - Quito, ECUADOR - OCT 13, 2012
A very decent beer, although it was not a common dubbel, amber, with good carbonation, caramel, with hints of hops. Very drinkable. troopie (2439) - Munchen an der Willamette, Oregon, USA - AUG 19, 2012
Bottle. Cloudy orange with thin white head and stringy lacing. Caramelly and malty aroma. Mild flavour with a hop centre. Caramel and spice. Better as it warms Dogbrick (13763) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - APR 3, 2012
Sample at the Tap House Grill in Seattle. This brew is a cloudy orange-amber color with a medium off-white head that recedes slowly. Sticky sheet of lacing. Aroma of fruity yeast and malt. Medium body with a fruity character and flavors of dark malt, yeast and molasses. The finish is ripe fruit and yeast. Decent beer overall. yespr (47545) - Copenhagen O, DENMARK - MAR 7, 2012
From tap at the brewpub. Pours cloudy orange with a small white head. Aroma is roasted caramelish, light spiced and mild yeasty. Smooth toasted malty, sweet, caamelish and light yeasty spiced. Smooth caramelish finish. More a triple than a double.

22 oz. bottle, pours a reddish brown with a small beige head. Aroma of dark fruits, yeast, floral notes and brown sugar. Flavour of light dark fruits, spices, brown sugar, yeast and floral notes - a little metallic on the finish. Solid.

Newly purchased bomber from the bottle shop that’s either from 2008 or a re-release. Forgot to ask. Pours a light reddish brown color with a thin layer of off-white foam. Faint notes of Belgian yeast, toffee and dessert spices in the aroma. The taste opens up with lots of caramel, dates and bready malt flavors along with some dried cherry, plum and cloves. The body is a little bit thin for the style with soft carbonation and finishes with more caramelized sugars and malt. Not bad but the overall flavor lacks the carbonation kick and strong Belgian yeast flavor of a great Dubbel. Leighton (22306) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 13, 2010
Bottle at the Funky 6. Pours a cloudy, amber-brown with a medium, beige head. Dark fruit aroma with raisins, figs, sweet bread and toffee. Sweet flavor with caramel, brown sugar, more dark fruits and some toasted malts. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Finishes sweet and malty with some candied sugar. jercraigs (10886) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 18, 2010
2010-07-03. Dark brown body, small creamy tan head fades. 3+ Strange aroma, sweet malt, rough alcohol, odd dry dusty malt. 5+ Flavour is mild sweet sugary malt, chased by a decent amount of alcohol, odd combination, dry finish. 6+ Average palate is lighter than expected. Not quite there. On tap at Hales, Seattle mabel (9787) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 16, 2010
[3094-20100703] Tap. Mild Ajax cleaner aroma has hints of plastic juniper. Hazy, dark red body with a medium-lasting creamy off-white head. Alcohol and grainy malt flavour has mild plastic notes. Medium-full body. Not wonderful.
