Medium slightly hazy orange gold color. Small white foamy head. Aroma is grapefruity and orange. A medium bodied Imperial India Pale Ale. Malts are fruity and sweet. Hops are piney, citrus and fruity. Yet another Imperial IPA that leans toward the malts. Nice full flavor. Very smooth tasting. A nice imperial IPA, this is one of Hale’s new “Brewers Choice” series beers. It could be very promising is this beer is any indication. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is bitter. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - FEB 8, 2004
Hazed amber with minimal off-white head. Aroma is quite sweet, grapefruit/orange, alcohol, barleywinish. Taste is much the same, malty barleywine. Full sticky body. TChrome (1481) - North Richland Hills, Texas, USA - FEB 3, 2004
Beer pours hazy orange golden color with a decent sized mostly white head that is retained. Aroma is compelling. Notes of fruit. Quite sweet smelling where are the hops? Very odd flavor. Almost taste like orange juice. Not going to become one of my favorites, but is quite intriguing. theakston (64) - arlington, Virginia, USA - FEB 2, 2004
Great Imperial Pale. Bursting with flavour that isn't over dominated by the hops. urbnhautebourg (997) - Annapolis, Maryland, USA - JAN 19, 2004
After a bunch of different sorts of big IPA today, this one is, well, different. A great deal more malt: almost akin to HopDevil. THe malt is fruited up and well-bittered by the hops, but I'm surprised by how prominent the malt is. Never have I encountered such a malt-driven Imperial IPA. Almost a candy apple character.

This beer rocks!
Very lightly hazy orange ale. The aroma is of sweat, caramel, light perfume, floral notes and wet leather. The flavor offers notes of caramelized pineapple, orange blossom honey and grapefruit rind. Thoughtfully bittered. Full-bodied with a heavy, oily mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Lengthy, bitter, dry finish. Great stuff! Underrated!

Tarty malty aroma. Nice looking amber colored beer with a thick head. Really sweet, average tasting ale. Nothing special, but decent enough. Eyedrinkale (3235) - Astoria, New York, USA - JAN 18, 2004
Gold color with nice big head. Big floral aroma. Sweet and sticky but a little too sweet. Alcohol finish. Perkeo (322) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JAN 16, 2004
Glowing reddish brown color...cherry brown or somesuch. Smells like a couple drops of brandy at christmas mixed into a great northwest IPA. This beer has probably seen wood...I KNOW IT'S SEEING MINE. THANKS AND GOODNIGHT::::**)))! drismyhero (815) - Tacoma, Washington, USA - JAN 9, 2004
This was a very tasty IPA - big citrusy grapefruit hops were mouthfilling in every respect because they blended so nicely with the intense malt presence. A great palate IPA just for this reason, everything just flows so well and it is all very appetizing.
