Sampled at GABF. Black appearance with a light brown head. Roasted malts, chocolate, coffee. oak, vanilla, light bourbon. Rich and dark with a full body. after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - MAR 24, 2013
22. Pours jet black with a dense and creamy dark tan head. Sweet bourbony nose--lots of fumey alcohol, apricots, chocolate, and vanilla. Sticky thin body. Roast, chocolate, apricots, and vanilla on the mid palate. Not hot, but a little overly sweet. Too much barrel. mcberko (17815) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 20, 2013
22 oz. bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is very subtle, with notes of roasted malt and a little whiskey. Flavour brings out wood, whiskey barrels, and toasted malt. The whiskey is upfront, without being boozy. Medium bodied and well-balanced, with a low-to-medium complexity. Good stuff. 5000 (6862) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - AUG 11, 2013
Bottle:   Black, moderate foamy beige head, nice lacing.   Faint roast, faint barrel aging, even softer Whiskey.   First up is a touch sourness, faint roast, and again with an even softer barrel aging or Whiskey
character.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Same on the exit, mild sweet roastiness, a touch sour, with a little barrel aged character.   Not a bad beer, wished it didn’t have the slight sour aspect.   I also wished
the stout was a bit more chewy and pronounced to match the barrel aging.   Average BA stout. p1meatloaf (256) - Corvallis, Oregon, USA - FEB 14, 2015

Very big bourbon wood vanilla s’mores. Heavy. Taste is thick and extremely flavorful. Definitely a big impressive beer but the flavors are very bold and i prefer a more subtle barrel flavor.

5oz draft at brewpub. Black body tan head. Aroma wallops too with the traditional too much over-the-top bourbon. Lots of alcohol. Beneath that is a big sweet impy stout with cocoa, chocolate roast. Flavor is nit as bad as expected. Its a leaner body than expected. Alcohol strong at first. Long thin alcohol aftertaste. Between those two is a sugary lean sweet cocoa stout. The carbonation is strong. I would prefer a thicker less carbed body to make this more of a sipper. I literally feel alcohol burn in the back of my throat. This beer does not know if it wants to be super big or lean. And the alcohol isn’t catastrophic but its pretty bad. soy sauce, jsnicholas (627) - Woodinville, Washington, USA - JAN 18, 2015
Bottle (22oz $10): Almost black with1 finger tan head that disappears. Smell sweat Carmel. Taste is sweat with lots of bourbon, but finishes with a strong coffe like bitterness. robforbes (2241) - Bremerton, Washington, USA - JUL 21, 2013
pours a very dark brown with a small brown head and good lacing.
smell is of cocoa, whiskey, a touch of vanilla, and wood.
taste is of bourbon, woody, some cocoa, and somewhat sour. ends with the bourbon overpowering everything else. djd07 (14471) - Houston, Texas, USA - MAR 9, 2014
Bottle thanks to Will. Pours a cloudy brown with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is roast, toffee, rye. Medium mouthfeel, light oak, roast, chocolate with light boozy finish. Decent. tourette (225) - Seattle, Washington, USA - FEB 21, 2014
One of the worst barrel aged imperials I've had. Smells nice. Looks nice. But tastes sour. A little bit wine like somehow. And way, way too much barrel.
