Bottle brought back from Seattle poured into a shaker. Very nice amber appearance for a pale ale. The aroma is very faint malt smell. The taste has a slight hop presence with a nice earthy tone.

Interesting orange color which was much darker than I expected for a pale ale. Almost no head on this beer except for a few white bubbles, I kept trying a hard pour but nada. Smell is a little bready and some slight sweetness in the background. The taste has a slight bit of citrus and a slight bit of hoppiness. Well balanced with a bready malt taste. Bottle: Pours a muddy straw color with a thin head. Florals and light citrus abound with light caramel malts. Flavor is a bit on the watery side with light florals and some funky caramel sweetness. Has an odd sweetness and artificial honey sensation... Ehhh, what is going on here?

Drake (13739) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 1, 2009
12 ounce bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a hazy orange with an epically large head. Damn. Perpetual head retention... Good lacing. Aroma is caramel, citrus and leafy, vegetal hops. Taste is citrus hops and caramel. Medium bodied.

Beardface (1517) - Eugene, Oregon, USA - APR 27, 2009
12 oz bottle from Trader Joe’s up in Seattle. Pours a murky yellow with a thin white head. Aroma is grainy, malty, biscuity. Flavor is light with some earthy hops and maltiness and a low carbonated, thin mouthfeel. Subpar.

jigglyjock (165) - Longmont, Colorado, USA - FEB 24, 2009
Dark orange body with a generous, lacing, lingering, off-white head. Aroma of apples and tannic malt husks. Tasks exactly like a pale ale I brewed. Their must be some crystal hops in there which lends a piney, tinny, tannic bitterness which is balanced well with a sweet candy bread maltiness and a appley esters from the yeast. Over all pretty ordinary pale.

1/14/09 From the bottle. Aroma is biscuity. Appearance is clear gold with a well maintained white head. Flavor is very earthy, with a light, sweet background. Mouthfeel is moderate bodied with a low carb texture. Overall, it’s just a bit harsh for a pale.

On-tap at Outback. Awfully deep amber with a clear body and soft white head. Nice grainy, pale malt backbone with a mild hop build.

Grizzle (80) - Lawrence, Kansas, USA - OCT 29, 2008
Bottle->Pint glass. Pours a hazy sun-burnt orange, like a Texas fan too long in the sun. Not much head to speak, perhaps a 1/4 inch deep max. Faint aroma that desensitizes the nose quickly. Sweeter, malty smell, with a touch of butterscotch and salt. Perhaps some citrus, too. Flavor is slightly bitter, but not an overpowering hops presence, to be sure. Again, a salty or soy sauce quality, although not at all pronounced. Bitter through the finish. Overall, I could purchase again, and would pair it with a pork tenderloin from the grill, served with a mango salsa, to balance the bitter.
