10th October 2008. GABF. Made with toasted coconut. The sweetness of the coconut offsets the porter flavours well, especially in the dry finish. fiulijn (21022) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 12, 2014
Draught at Hales Ales Brewery and Pubmcberko (18557) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 8, 2015
Dark brown color, near black, with compact head. Light aroma of roasted malt. Good body strength; soft mouthfeel; it has a moderate flavor of roasted malt and chocolate. Correct bitterness.
More Brown Ale than Porter, not enough round and chocolatey, but pleasant overall.
On nitro tap at Hale’s, pours a dark amber brown with a medium tan head. Aroma is very subtle, with light notes of toasted malt - not much else. Flavour is pleasant, with notes of cocoa and light toasted malt - light-to-medium sweetness. Smooth palate from the nitro, but not terribly refined. Okay.

Sample at the brewpub (as NighTroll Porter). The beer pours black with a medium thin creamy tan head that diminishes slowly. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt and coffee. Medium body with flavors of black coffee, chocolate malt and a touch of hops. The finish is roasty with a short coffee aftertaste. Decent overall.
