COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We’ve been making fun of wheat beers for a long time. Low hanging fruit, I guess, but we brewed one. Our packaging team was riding the topic pretty hard. They wanted to see an american wheat brewed with australian hops. And since they work their fingers to the nub and are a pretty rad group of chaps, we took the bait and slammed this brew in the tanks.

A ridable 5.5% abv will host some wheatey nuts & juicy Motueka hop bolts. The deliverer of this truth: Akari Shogun, He who harnesses light will usher this summer force into your life.

Akari Shogun American Wheat, coming to you soon, friends

Very murky yellow-orange with scant head. Fantastic nose of cherry, pineapple, other juicy fruits, gumballs, and spruce. Medium-light body with bright carbonation. Lots more gumball, with orange zest, and pineapple. Excellent. Similar to Gumballhead/Lil Sumpin.

Draft at Jerry’s. Cloudy yellow with decent, creamy, white head / Bright nose of weed, pine, citrus, tropical fruit, cream / Light body, crisp and dry, maybe a touch thin but debatable and with otherwise fine balance, and nice bitter finish / Stylish flavors of straw, lemon, pear, pineapple, spruce, weed / Superb, especially as a summer patio quaffer.

Aroma is citrus, hop resin, mildly perfumed yeast and pine. The flavor is grapefruit, citrus, wheat, fruit, slight hop resin notes, a small hint of heat medium body and a mildly bitter/dry/tangy finish.

A badass name and a badass can. That’s all Half Acre needed to get my attention. Still, I can never turn down the opportunity to have a great Wheat Ale. And this IS a great one. Cloudy yellow pour. Cracker-like malt. Lemony and grassy hop notes - dank. There’s a pretty big hop presence but very little bitterness. Rich, viscous feel. Dry finish with a lingering hint of sour funk. If only this were in my area...
