Draft at Brewery. The pour is dark with some head, I would say as dark brown as you can get. The aroma is a mix of bourbon and something else I can't exactly put my hand on. The taste is bug bourbon upfront and really throughout. A solid bb offering.

Draft @ Local Option. Pours a light brown with a light tan head. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla and chocolate. Taste is fermented dark fruits, toasted coconut, vanilla and oaky bourbon. Medium bodied with a creamy texture. Soft carbonation and a very long finish. Overall, quite good. I’ve never had the regular "Over Ale" to compare, but I liked this one. pantanap (3366) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 14, 2012
On tap at local option... Pours a lightly muddled Carmel toffee hue with not much of a head despite a thin ring around the edges if the glass... Nutty caramel toffee and more than its fair share of bourbon barrel presence. Smells boozy and fairly barrel forward... Flavors are more of the same with an added dark fruit quality. Barrel forward bourbon notes intertwined with toffee, toasty nuttiness with a slight twang coming through late. Shy of medium bodied with a lighter level of carbonation. Draft at GTMW 12. What a strange beer to throw in the barrel. As a base, it doesn’t really have enough depth to support the barrel. Pours a deep brown-copper with an offwhite head. The nose is vanilla and cocoa, coconut and toasty. On tasting, a bit thin, vanilla and booze overwhelm it. This isn’t one of my favorite beers before the barrel and the barrel doesn’t really change that. Just seems to be overwhelmed.

Enjoyed at GTMW 2012. Pours a mahogany with a medium cream head. Smells of bourbon. Smooth and creamy texture with a light, bourbon cream finish. TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - MAY 19, 2012
Draft on tap at The Sands Half Acre event (Chicago, IL). Pours a rich darker brownish hue, healthy glow and haze overall, with richer dark body, a frothy offwhite haze dies to film, laces well. Aromas are touches of oak, bourbon, gentle biscuits, brown malts, bread, and some toffee. Vanilla, gentle oxidation spirit, faint heat. A touch of toasted coconut. Initial is medium bodied, lighter end, with some thinned out barrel presence. Oak, bourbon, gentle spirit kisses with some mellow malt presence, touches of toffee, biscuits, mellow dry hops. Middle shows some sticky elements, but is still thinner overall. Backend leaves lingering barrel, crisp vanilla, toasted coconut and oak. Firm mellow sweet malts. Very well done, integrated well, a flavorful barrel without the heat.
