Tasted on draft at FoBAB 2011. Pours cloudy copper orange with an average beige head that slowly recedes to uneven lace. The nose is sour gooseberry, cranberry, lemon peel and light bread malt. The flavor is tart with tons of barnyard, cranberry skin, and the same hint of light bread malt from the nose. FoBAB 2011. Pours cloudy amber. Aroma of apples, acid. Little bit of red wine, wood in the flavor. Apples and some spices, little weird. Wasn’t my favorite.

Sampled from the tap at 2011 FOBAB. Poured a nearly cloudy earthy amber with a yellowish tan head that dissipated slowly to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of tropical fruit with some funk and a bit of backing musty wood. Flavor is quite thin with some tart tropical fruit and a bit of lacto, but really not too much. On tap at FoBAB 2011. Amber pour with small tan head. Aroma is somewhat forgettable and muddled. Featuring notes of yogurt, grass, toffee, some green apples apples. Mild residual sweetness. Some tartness. Flavor is funky, some spicy grain, and oak notes. Fruity and floral notes, a mild tartness. Some earth and what tasted to me like herbal tea. Slick mouthfeel. I really wanted to like this more considering how much I enjoyed the base beer.

Barrel aged Wake of the flood served on tap at Fobab 2011... Pours a hazy caramel toffee brown with a thin quickly dissipating light beige head... Green grassy with a milky sourness, lacto. Spiced with chamamile and lemongrassiness?... Earthy somewhat sweet flavors with an herbal spiced up forwardness. Lemongrass and chamomile. Lighter bodied with adequate carbonation. Hmmm not sure about this one. not my cup of tea.

Draft at FoBAB 9. I didn’t get this one at all. Pours a hazy amber with a froth of foam. Nose is muted. Somewhat grainy with a light hoppy note. Some tartness comes through, as does a fruitiness. Sampled on tap at FoBAB 2011 (Chicago, IL). Pours a glowing murky amber pour, some sunset edges with a bigger frothy tannish head atop, laces ok. Aromas are a vibrant citrusy orange with apples and lactic acid, touches of lemon and red wine and oak. Pretty vibrant as the apples show a lot. Initial is lighter bodied showing dry florals and oranges, apples and spice, touches of chamomile, oak, lactic lemons and yogurt. A decent dryness into the backend shows. More spice, dryness, apples and red wine really mix well together. Finish is dry and spicy yet mellow and lactic with that gentle kiss of red wine tannins growing. The apples, funk, and spice are a bit strange together. I liked some parts of this, but others were clearly overwhelming and off.
