Draft at Devil’s Den in Philadelphia, PA. Pours a dark chocolate brown color with a one finger beige head that slowly settles into a lasting ring. Sporadic spots of lace left behind. Complex malt aroma with a nice balance of sweet and roasted notes.  Hints of sweet and dark chocolate, oatmeal, coffee bean and toffee along with lactic sugar/cream.  Smells like a chocolate milk shake. Slightly chewy medium body with a nice balance of sweet and roasted chocolate malt along with earthy, bitter hops and lactic sugar.  Really chocolate-y with hints of caramel, toffee and nut.  Some roasted dark malt notes and hops contribute bitterness.  Hits of oatmeal, coffee and toast but the silky chocolate and lactic sugar notes dominate making this beer silky smooth and easy to drink.

UPDATED: OCT 5, 2015 At Half acre. Somewhat bitter chocolate flavor and some bitter hop flavor but not much hop aroma. The hops didn’t quite work for me but not bad. Serving: Tap

Porch beer in early Feb? 60 degrees out? Yep! Dark black. Think tan head. Thick creamy milky stout. A touch of vanilla would have kicked this into a 4, but as is, it’s really nice. I want more.

About half way through one of the growlers I picked up. Pours very dark brown with nice large dark tan head. Beautiful looking stout. Aromas of roasted malts and chocolate. Flavors of roasted malt and unsweetened chocolate. A bit of lactose, but not much. Finish dry and roasty. Mouthfeel is a thin. A little thicker body and we would have a real winner. Solid beer none-the-less.

bottle. pours a nice black with a dark brown head. smells of chocolate and a bit of roasty smoke. flavor is very milky, with a nice chocolate. finishes with an over the top roast flavor that lingers. body and mouthfeel were perfect for the flavors. if the roast was toned down this would be an amazing beer. that being said, it is still pretty fucking good.

6ish pour at Revolution Brewery grand opening. Black with a tan foamy head, quickly fading to leave some lace on the plastic cup. Smells of sweet chocolate, roasted characters and espresso. Medium bodied with a residual sweetness and a noble hop bitterness. Smells better than it tastes.

Black with fair, creamy, tan head (but tasting from a growler) / Big, earthy nose of cigar box and coffee / Medium body, a touch watery, chewy, with good balance and finish / Flavors of tobacco and dark roast coffee, with unsweetened chocolate notes / Potentially very good, just needs to correct the body problems.

Bomber. Pours a dark brown with a tan head and nice chocolate aroma. Taste is full of sweet milk chocolate notes, with roasted malt, and coffee notes into the creamy, chocolate finish.
