22 oz. bomber via trade with thetomG- thanks again, Tom! Pours a cloudy brown-ruby-amber color with a finger-thick beige head with nice retention and lace. Aroma isn’t very strong, but has nice notes of roasted chocolate and German malts, nuts, caramel, and toast. Flavor improves upon it, with notes of roasted chocolate malts, toast, wet tea leaves, tobacco, fruit, and some earthy notes. Light-medium bodied, with crisp carbonation and a leafy mouthfeel. Finishes dry and roasty. Tried right after the Sprecher Black Bavarian, this is another really nice Midwestern schwarzbier, a style I hadn’t thought much of before. Bomber. Poured chocolatey-brown with a short, but dense-ish cap of beige head. The aroma picked up sweeter chocolates, molasses, and lesser coffee, with sweet, smoky caramel bringing up the rear.. smooth and sweet impression. The flavor opened with a tart, malty kick and coffee bitterness, quickly backed by dry-roasted caramel and chocolate notes.. dry coffee bitterness, lactic character, and vanilla surrounded.. finished roasty and dry with a fine blend of everything I previously mentioned. Medium-bodied at its very most.. dry and roasty as mentioned.. this was on the hoppy and bitter side for the style, which was a welcome twist. I could drink far too much of this.

22 oz bottle from a friend. Been trying to track this down for awhile. Pours a nice blackish brown, lighter edges but largely opaque body. A light brown moderate head sits atop and dies down to a decent film, decent lacing overall over time. Aromas are roasty malts, barley, light cocoa and coffee grounds moving into a touch of creamy sweetness, caramel and toffee. Initial is similar, a sturdy body for a Schwartz, roasty malts with coffee, cocoa, sweetness and a creaminess in body move into caramel, toffee, chocolate, and coffee. Nice balance of flavors with a decent hopping in the finish to compliment the roast and sweetness. A solid Schwartz that gives a decent abv on top.. But it doesn’t get obnoxious. blutt59 (6565) - Dallas, Texas, USA - APR 1, 2010

Nose of coffee and roast with a hint of sweet/bitterness as well. Pours cola brown, thin ring on top. Coffee and roast, some dark fruity malts, some earthy bitterness, dry bready malts as well. Roasted malts linger, but clean out eventually due to lager status. Medium carbonation, drinkable, but stronger than most schwarz I am used to. thirdeye11 (6160) - Dallas, Texas, USA - MAR 28, 2010
(22oz bottle thanks to bu11zeye) Pours clear brown orange with a ring of bubbles. Nose of raisin, light smoke, dark fruit, and pears. Taste of smoke, candied pear, tobacco with a creamy finish that’s well carbonated. Mora2000 (6158) - McKinney, Texas, USA - MAR 27, 2010
Thanks to bu11zeye for sharing this bottle.
The beer pours a dark reddish-brown color with a white head. The beer is very clear. The aroma is a nice mix of caramel, chocolate and toffee malts, definitely a malt bomb. The flavor is mainly caramel malt, roasted malt and a hint of smoke. I don’t get too much chocolate in the flavor after getting a lot in the aroma. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
