This one was on tap at Harry Caray’s Tavern on Navy Pier in Chicago. It poured brown as expected with a good long lasting beige head. It definitely started out with a rich caramel malt with some nuts and chocolate notes. The hops were of a medium herbal nature and balanced nicely. I could drink a lot of these in a session.
Burnt umber color with a tall creamy looking taupe colored head. Very grainy aroma, with soybeans, and lightly toasted malt. Lightly sweet, slightly nutty. Slightly rusty in the finish and linger. Nothing overly over in this one. A solid brown, but that is not that much in my book. 3/11

On tap: The aroma consists of light-moderate caramel, toffee, roasted nuts, and a of molasses. It’s a dark brown with some orange transparency. It has a small beige head that fades to a thin film outlined by a thicker ring. The flavor starts with a quick dose of caramel, toffee, and a hint of molasses. On draught. Pours a deep brown, tan head decent retention and lacing, nose is malt, roast, toasty pumpernickel bread. Mouth is medium bodied, very mild malt sweetness, tempered by a hoppy bitterness, nutty, roasted barley character. Tasty brown.

Tap @ Half Acre: Rustic brown color with a gradient of lighter copper towards the bottom; the khaki froth on top quickly transcends into a thin layer of foam. Aroma of dusty caramel malts, overly baked/toasted bread, generic earthiness, & a slight touch of unsweet cocoa powder. Nothing inherently wrong with the aroma, just a little uninspired. More rich caramel maltiness on the palate with a slightly sweet toffee tone to it. Metallic & grassy earth vibes throughout, layered with some mild plum fruits, burnt bread, & even a bit of anise. It’s like a hybrid between a brown ale & an English bitter... Basically, a brown ale that’s more bitter than sweet. Decent, albeit a little hard to figure out. 16oz can from Tooch. Pours a clear dark reddish brown with thin off-white head. The nose is fruity with toasted nuts. The taste is light cocoa, roasted malt, light coffee and a bitter hop finish. Aroma: The aroma has nutty malts, some caramel, tropical notes, and some pine
Appearance: A reddish-brown color, with a nice, lasting, thick, and frothy off-white head
Flavor: The flavor is along the same line, malty, balance nicely by a later hop bitterness
Palate: The body is medium, with a nice drinkabilty, and smooth finish on the mouth
Overall, I thought this was a pretty nice beer. It drinks nicely and seems to blur the lines between Brown Ale and Cascadian Dark Ale (in a good way). Definitely a great looking beer.

A mostly clear brown with medium tan head. Lightly toasted malt aroma. Medium body. Malty flavor, lightly sweet but not too much, minor hops in the background, good flavor, easy to drink. Decent.
